Yeah the 20s fixed a lot of the ugliness GM decided was cool on the 19s. I still prefer the 16 to 18 front end though, I don't like the tail lights, too much of a Vette copy cat imo. *♂️ That's why I like the 10 to 13 and 19 up tails, they have their own look. Rallye Green Metallic is a gorgeous color and is what sold me on that body style. That and Satin Steel.

You should always look to get the best bargain out there, so I would keep looking. Unfortunately, the price is what it is. The company will not sell a Camaro below a certain price point new. We will all need to get used to the fact that our beloved v8 Camaro's days are numbered. Chevrolet should do all it can to spur sales so at the least it will give them something to consider when planning a next generation....if it happens.

IMO gm could have and should have found ways to freshen up the 5th gens somehow but when the mustang started outselling the camaro in 2015 they panicked. dodge has been able to keep the challenger going with minimal changes to the body and interior for over 10 years now.
the gen 2's had a 11 year run,gen 3's 10 years and gen 4 9 years. |

The Zeta platform was borrowed from Holden as a stop gap measure because they didn't have anything that could underpin the new 5th gen Camaro. GM got short-sighted and lazy enjoying the lucrative profits of the SUV/truck craze. The bankruptcy that led to the bailout didn't help either. When the Alpha platform came along, they decided to go with the new 6th generation. I'm thinking it was the other way around though. Instead of having the Camaro share the Alpha platform with Cadillac to reduce development costs, I think it was having Cadillac share the platform with the Camaro to reduce development costs. That ultimately led to the decision to cut short the old Zeta based 5th gen production and go with the 6th gen. Last edited by mikeman; 01-08-2020 at 06:00 AM. |

The only reason Dodge saw a jump in the past few months was due to the horsepower rebates, getting nearly 5 grand of a Scat Pack, sure, a lot of folks traded out of their R/T's at that time. However, set aside the Widebodies and the Hellcats, and it's not enthusiasts that are buying those Dodge cars, they're all wannabe's. But again, Dodge is a much lesser car, no question. As is the Mustang. The Gen 6 Camaro is as close to Corvette performance as the Camaro has ever been. For this transaction, though, looking for a big discount on a 2020 anything at the end of 2019, is not likely. The manufacturer's are helping dealer's move the '19's with dealer incentives. Dealer's need to move the '19's because of their banks that hold the note on their inventory. One way to do that is to hold firm on the new MY to persuade the customer to take the discount on the older one. |

I was just responding to the idea that they made a mistake with the 6th Gen. I don't think it was a design mistake, so much as a marketing mistake, as in almost no marketing of the car. |

That $47k tag is for the 2020 1SS. The 2020 1LS starts at around $27k, but I know what you mean. I saw a clean af 2013 ZL1 with around 40k miles on it a couple months ago with carbon fiber parts on it and 750+ rwhp for $40k. And GM wonders why current-year camaros aren't selling...

I would have no hesitation buying a higher mileage ZL1. If the maintenance was done correctly and it was taken care of, no problem. The only thing I could think of failing or wearing out at higher mileage would be rotor lobe and pulley snout bearings. A S/C rebuild might be needed then, but that comes with the territory with any boosted car. |

This picture says it all. Sure, I give up 150HP to ZL1 but the styling of the Gen 5 is superior IMO. 6 also has to many creases and sharp points in body styling. I do LOVE the 650HP LT 4 and if I owned one I would be VERY happy, but I prefer the overall package of my Z/28 and the Gen 5 in general. Let the debate continue.
