That's not true at all.

I just ordered 8 2020 Camaros 2 weeks ago, all stock units.

I was told by multiple dealers that there were no more units being allocated for dealer stock and that the primary focus was going to be on filling customer orders. So, you either got your order in right before the status changed, or maybe you ordered against your allocated units that hadn't yet been filled?

So if you just ordered 2020 models when can a 2021 be ordered?

You should be subscribed to the 2021 ordering thread that you posted in a few weeks ago. No update from the point where it was stated that orders could be created "now", but it wasn't clear when they could be submitted.

You were told wrong.

They can be ordered now. This is the first week of 2021 consensus and 6/25 is the first dealer allocation week.

Would care to elaborate on this? If anyone is currently "shopping" and not finding what they want, this could be very helpful to them.

5/29 was the last week for dealer orders for 2020 Camaro. We were allocated 8 units for that week. Dealers all across the country received allocations as well. The only 2020 vehicle that wasn't/isn't taking any more dealer stock orders is Corvette.

Gotcha.

So, it sounds like the number of allocated vehicles will vary from one dealer to the next. And, I would imagine it's tied to your typical volume on a model? Meaning... Dealerships that do high volumes of Camaro's would get a higher allocation number?

It's possible that, in my area, the dealerships aren't high enough volume to have gotten either any allocations or only a couple of them and they aren't interested in adding to that inventory (for whatever reason).

I also know that I started looking the week BEFORE you mentioned, so maybe the dealership actually was allocated more inventory after I asked them? If so, they screwed up because I would have bought it from my local dealership...

GM normally bases allocation off of what they call "days supply" which is basically the number of Camaros(or any other model) you have in stock/in system versus how many you sell on average.

A dealer that has a lot of stock on hand, might not get any allocations until they sell some inventory. We normally stock anywhere from 15-25 Camaros at a time but right now, we have none. So, with those 8 that I ordered for the final 2020 allocation week, I expect to get another 8-10 2021 allocations when those are handed out on 6/25.

A dealer could receive allocation and turn them down. Those allocations will go to dealers asking for extra allocations. I typically ask for extra allocation every month. For the final week of 2020 allocations, I was only allocated 4 units. I asked for 5 extra and got 4 of them.

Thanks - this is helpful (for me, at least) to understand.

I suspect that the local dealerships I spoke to either weren't offered any units (because they don't typically sell/stock many) or turned down what they were offered. One of the dealerships sells a lot of Corvettes and Trucks but seems to carry the other models as a "convenience" for other customers. Aren't niches great?

Just bought a 2020 GMC Acadia Denali. Sticker was $57,000, financed $37,000 after trade and owing $13,000 left on that trade. The rates are 2.25 for 72 and 2.5 for 84.

A) All that would be relevant here would be to understand what incentives you received against the original sticker.

B) How does this relate to incentives for the Camaro as nothing you received would apply... ???

Just was simply trying to imply that rates are low right now and incentives are getting even better for all vehicles. There was 10,000 off sticker for the Acadia, so I was simply trying to say that the deals for Camaros will probably start to get even better, especially due to the kind of year we are having. I got my '18 2SS Camaro Vert last year at the end of May beginning of June for $40,000 out the door, no trade, with a sticker of $54,000, I had to drive about 300 miles/5 hours to get it, since it was the closest '18 I could find and I wanted that style front end. So the deals should start getting better.
