CNC Ported Heads and Cam Dyno Results
I recently finished with a couple of mods to the car and wanted to share the results here for comparison and to help those thinking of doing the same with more information and numbers.
My car was bone stock with about 45k miles on it and I installed the following: Texas Speed and Performance Precision Race Components LS7 CNC 265cc ported cylinder heads, reusing my intake valves, replaced exhaust valves with new stainless steel, installed TSP .660" Lift Dual Spring Kit w/ PAC Springs & Titanium Retainers, and installed bronze valve guides. Texas Speed & Performance Chromemoly Hardened Pushrods Texas Speed & Performance TSP Stage 2.2 LS7 N/A Camshaft- Cam Specs: 234/246, .635"/.635", 112.5 LSA, 109.5 ICL (Lift w/ 1.8:1 LS7 Rocker Ratio) Lingenfelter 160 degree thermostat. Unfortunately I was unable to get a stock dyno numbers before these mods but will dyno between all mods from here out to see real numbers. At the current time I'm running this through the factory exhaust manifolds and exhaust but hope to add headers soon and dyno again so we can see the numbers for just the headers. I just recently had the car dyno tuned by Corey at Henderson Performance Technologies in New Braunfels,TX. I've known him for years and he's an amazing tuner and I feel blessed to have his signature on my cars tune. It has the old school chop with the new larger cam and is still a daily driver with excellent street manners. Corey knows his stuff and says his dyno is a little older and reads a little lower than most new shiny ones but assures me the power is there and I believe him 100 percent. Results were 507.14 Max HP and 459.15 Max Torque to the wheels. With his dyno known to read lower than most and no headers yet I think these numbers aren't too bad. Some strong numbers. I'm curious to see what the addition of headers and related exhaust will do.

Headers with no/cats is going to really wake it up. I would do the Msd atomic intake as well.

I'm with you, I didn't have much control over the timing of some things. My factory cam and some lifters went bad so I tackled those things first. The up side is I'm in a good position now to document and see exactly what some good headers are worth with the supporting mods compared to the factory set up which seems to be better than most factory exhaust. I will definitely share the info when I do it.

Hey Matty great to hear from you. The seat of the pants dyno feels great, nothing to really compare to yet but it pulls strong all the way to about 7k and gets there quickly. I'm very pleased with it and it shakes and rumbles like old school. Can't wait to go to Sonic for a slushy

Thank you. I'm working on getting some headers as soon as possible. This Covid 19 crap isn't helping one bit but hopefully soon. Which mods/ parts did you go with? What were your other supporting mods and how do you think our numbers compare?

I'm definitely considering the intake. What do you think the real HP numbers on just the intake are? I've been watching your headers thread closely (thanks for posting) and it's looking more and more like I'm going to end up going the same route with the Kooks 2" with off road pipes simply due to cost. They look great in your post and seem like the numbers are great too!

Our setups are not entirely apples to apples but I made 463/439 Bone stock 587/501 after head/cam/headers supporting mods. Both runs were STD correction DynoJet ( used std since your graph is std) . Made 572/488 SAE correction. Still on stock throttle body/stock intake manifold. Took great care to try to have a very smooth, stable and controlled valve train/cam setup. These heads need the extra care IMO. https://imgur.com/fBe9XvN Setup: -Advanced induction 280 cnc port, 64cc chambers, ferrea hollow/stainless EX valves, bronze guides, BTR .660 duals/Ti retainers -BTR 3/8 x .80 pushrods -comp BSR shaft rockers -custom comp cam on LXL endurance lobes ( lower acceleration, softer on/off seat) 240/254, .652/.652 114+4 -ARH 2” headers, short system w/ High flow cats -build/tune by race proven motorsports. On a stock engine it’s around 10 so with your cammed engine I’d say 15 maybe. Headers and intake would surely get you to the 560-570 mark. If you think your car sounds nasty now wait until you do the headers.

You gained probably about 55-whp 60 over stock. I had a GPI came (a bit stronger than the TSP 2.2), kooks LT, IM, etc...post dyno tune it was around 540, but a good street tuner can get you more out of it...mine got me to around the 570whp mark.

Each dyno is different. It will be good to go to the same dyno/operator and compare these numbers to pre/post header/exhaust numbers.
