Comically small oil filter

Well, it is the recommended GM oil filter, what can we say

...you're sure you installed a PF64, right? (Although, truth to be told, I haven't seen many others that would be even smaller.)

I forget the part numbers, but I used to use a different model ACDelco filter on my LS1 trans am. The OEM filter was super short as well, but there was a taller one which fit and ended up being the perfect length to be flush with the bottom of the oil pan.

IIRC, it was the "truck" oil filter. Might be worth looking into what filter the LT-based V8 pickups use. I think that'd be the PF63 filter. Has anyone tried that filter on our cars?

Get the filter that is recommended for ZL1 and you shouldn’t have problems.

I use the recommended PF64, but I also don't see any harm in using a taller filter as long as it doesn't present a ground clearance issue / isn't longer than the oil pan. It was super common on the LS1 f-bodies and any LS-swaps that used the f-body oil pan.

That said, I also don't believe it provides any benefit, unless you're trying to win at having the most oil in your LT engine. "10 qts? Pshhh, I fit 10.3 in mine!"

I agree that there is really no benefit using a larger filter. I use a Mobil 1 or a Napa Gold filter and had no issues so far.
