The C8 did better than I thought, ha! ... but it does need an alignment to get there which is a strike against it.

Totally agree, we argue numbers and stats when they're out and compare features, that's what car guys do. Sure we have favorites, and sometimes joke below the belt, but no one should be hoping a car fails or talking down it's capabilities.

I think we need to clarify what constitutes VIR Full, vs other lap times. Here is a link to the Grand East course. Pay close attention to where the M6 ZLE falls in comparison to a C7 GrandSport and, scroll down, the GT350R.

I think the people that keep up with this thread and the other gt500 VIR thread understand the difference between VIR Full vs Grand.

Also how does the m6 zle fail compared to the GS? It's a little faster just like the a10 was. Are you saying it fails because it didn't beat it by more time?

Question - how does following the owner's manual and manufacturer recommendations for track settings give it a strike against?

Plenty of track star cars that are street legal require adjustments to make them track ready for optimum results.

In the same way, increasing air pressure to the fronts, decreasing air pressure to the rears, changing launch RPM, and added a ton of extra track prep after a long cool down is a tick against the GT500 10.6 pass. These are just the variables we know about, there could be more.

Found this - a 1:55 would best a Dodge Viper ACR Extreme...I find that HIGHLY unlikely even for a 760hp Mustang

Well that about wraps it up Base will handle a C8 on the strip or track, CF package will destroy the C8 on the track and Randy says Forget about the Camaro.

I guess the 500 is a complete failure

It is just an inconvenience that's all. It's like comparing the zr1 with the viper acr for all those years. They would put down similar times, but you had to tune the hell out of the acr to do it.

Hey, I'm about to be inconvenienced myself with having to track align the ZLE. Wish I didn't have to, but it's not changing my buying decision.

CFTP need to be more than 6 seconds/lap faster than a GT350R in order to catch an M6 ZLE on a long course which is good for higher HP vehicles. That delta will increase with the A10 ZLE.

Well I'll be damned, and here I was thinking the gt500 cftp with a 1:54 or 55 time compared to the acr's 1:57 was amazing.

The gt500 had near 170 speeds on the straights, this thing has around 175.

I know the c8 is the new thing and the c7 is done but this is obviously the car that compares better to the gt500.

What an inconvenient article to post lol
