Unhappy Camaro Sales

2010-2019 camaro sales still total almost 600,000 units in 9 years....averages 67,000 camaros a year...they have to save it! fiqure out a way! There must be a 7th generation camaro….shape it like the 70-73 camaros, have 5-7 different V8 combinations, ….do something! Don't give up Chevy! Make a commercial like dodge does!

They should make it look like the 67-68/69 cars. Not just "inspired" by the 1st generation, but more faithful to it, like the Challenger.

No, they shouldn't. They need a modern, clean sheet design. Old cars are gone for a reason.

I’m sorry but none of those will increase sales.

70 to 73 is one of my favorites but digging even deeper into the retro toy box won’t cut it.

More V8 choices? You think they would sell more cars with more engines? Costs would go up for sure but I don’t see how more V8 engine choices help. Heck GM doesn’t even have that many V8s.

And we’ve already covered in multiple threads that if a cool, hot TV commercial would sell more Camaros GM would have already done that. They don’t because they know it doesn’t work.

They just made the wrong choices with this gen. Too focused on performance and weight loss. Greatest Camaro ever made. But a highly compromised coupe in several key areas.

Not sure how much it would help, but they really should advertise the performance vs competition a lot more. Camaros weren't on my radar until I looked into numbers vs Mustang, Challenger, Charger etc. Frankly I was surprised. I still have people ask me 'how many horse does it make?', the car is somehow a performance sleeper in it's own category.

Shoot, why not? Dodge did it and people love it. I'd go for more 2nd generation though

Dodge has proved that you don't need to be the smallest or the fastest on a road course, just have a well balanced platform, with a nice retro look, many engine options that has a back seat and a usable trunk.
doing that and you can keep a platform around for more than 10 years.

Oh and make sure you market the hell out of it and keep it in the public eye, these are all the mistakes that GM didn't do.

2. Keep prices down. As good as the Camaros have gotten, they are out of reach for most of the people who actually WANT to buy them nowadays. Yes, they impress the snobby European biased auto journalists now, but the customer is paying for all that. A truly budget V8 car is needed, the LT1 trim is a step in the right direction, but still too expensive.

3. Need to either appeal to Millennials somehow (maybe a lost cause on these cars) or just start on Gen Z NOW. Use multi-media platforms to CREATE the market. Honestly, something like the original Fast N Furious for American cars would go a long way. You have to make these cars cool again, or at least find a way to show people how cool and fun they are. Gen Z is absolutely RIPE for these type of cars, if they will be affordable to them in the future. Not making and preparing the 7th gen for Gen Z would be a HUGE mistake. And if these cars are actually affordable to young people, they will be affordable to older people and people with families that just want a toy for the weekends, too.
SPOT ON! Millenials can't even afford to get married, buy houses and have kids these days. Camaros have gotten so good that too many "youngsters" can't buy them any more. The ones they can maybe afford have a turbo 4 cylinder? Sorry, but that isn't cool, it's LAME!

Say what you will about the re-designed front end (I personally don't like the new nose, but am Ok with the new tail lights), but I have seen more of the 2019 refresh Camaros on the road in the past few months than I ever see of the 2016 - 2018 model.

When I bought my 2018 ZL1 14 months ago, I only ever saw 5 or 6 6th Gen camaros in my area with any regularity.

In the past 4 months, I have noticed at least 16 of the new 2019 models. 3 of them are convertibles.

So, while a lot of us Camaro fans don't like the new facelift, IMHO, they seem to be selling well...

Dodge does a fenominal job of advertising the brand (actual cool commercials) yet GM or in this case, Chevy, has these F'n stupid real people crap. Stop building so many varients of CUV's and do things slightly different. Stop re-badging cars and actually create a name plate for what it is ahmm (blazer, up coming trailblazer) boo.. I've always loved GM, Espeically Chevy and always been true even during the bail out period. however, these days I'm not so sure. When everything looks like a spark or an equinox and a leader who is 100% pushing EV. well maybe I don't want EV.
**this is my opinion only, but when they start taking good drivers cars and big family cars such as suburbans away (which I doubt that part) I'm out.
They still can make a come back, just fire Mary hire a car guy and not a bean counter to appease the stock holders and fire the advertising company and they may make a comeback. (ohh build cool cars). I like the Blazer, just call it something else.

1. Price is the biggest stumbling block for most.

2. Stop with the "real people not actors" bull crap commercials and put out something worthwhile for advertising.

3. Stop letting the bean-counters ruin the company and the product lines. (again)
