First off, SEMA is a place for vendors and manufacturers to showcase their latest AFTERMARKET performance and body/interior modifications. Manufacturers do not show their standard production styling changes there. That is reserved for the car shows, press releases and press conferences. Typically there is a different customer base and audience who cover and follow manufacturer production changes and aftermarket changes and enhancements. Road and Track and Car and Driver cover SEMA very sparingly if at all, and Hot Rod Magazine and Street Rodder cover GM corporate press conferences with production changes very sparingly if at all.

Second, GM Authority has no source cited or confirmation of production changes, only that this front bumper change "will go into production". Does that mean it's available as an additional cost through GM parts? Or will the Lansing Grand River assembly line get new bumpers with the updated paint scheme and bowtie location as a factory stock part? If so, what date is the change expected? Did it already happen? These are things that, if it were fact, would be known and the public would be informed by GM. The updated change isn't going to just all of a sudden show up at the dealers out of the blue. This is a significant alteration in production logistics. A modern factory doesn't just operate at the seat of it's pants - there are people who know, exactly, what and when and the final inventory accounting and costs before a single Camaro with the new bumper is assembled and installed.
Being in the automotive manufacturing world for 20 years I laugh at what some people post as facts. Plants don't retro fit....the affected depts plantwide are notified of the design changes months before they are implemented to ensure quality..fit and finish and assembly is a smooth transition. But its not a common theme to introduce a refresh so soon after a refresh has be implemented. If its just a bumper its a mold change but most likely all underlying braces and supports may be altered . But in reality its not a major deal.I really havnt followed it enough to see if the hood is affected but I'm guessing no.

From 1970 to 1974 there were 73,037 RS option (split bumper)Camaros sold, and from 1979 to 1981 there were 137,187 Berlinetta Camaros sold . Does that tell you anything?

You may want to watch the Barrett-Jackson or Mecum auctions more often
