Higher octane without tune

Like the title says, living in Cali we’re limited to 91 at the pump, anyone know a way to get a higher octane while still staying on the stock tune? Any benefit to that at all? Thanks for any help.

Boostane..doesn't necessarily add hp, but helps keep the 650 you were given by avoiding timing being pulled.

There's no benefit of higher octane with a stock tune. Cali has a million Camaros running stock tune/gas.

The performance supplement guide states to run 100 octane in temps above 86 deg. I imagine to prevent the engine from pulling timing.

"Consider using 100 octane unleaded gasoline if the air temperature is above 30 °C (86 °F) at a track event "

Its going to knock on 91, esp when warmer out. Adding torco or boostane will help that. Just be forwarned about the orange tailpipes and plugs if you use it.

Hmm interesting conversation going on here, so an additive and possibly race gas would help bring the octane up but no significant HP increase. SO what is the benefit of upping the octane than?

The benefit is, it will add some power over the 91. Because the higher octane will let your car come out of the low timing table (91oct.) And use its high octane timing table, that is already programmed in your ecu. Basically higher octane will let you use the max available timing given from the factory.
Just try the Boostane, or Torco give it some time to adjust, and see if it's worth it to you.

Do not do this!

You need a race fuel concentrate. I use the Race Gas brand: http://race-gas.com/ purchased thru Summit.

I disagree. The factory #s are with 93. The owner's manual states that using 91 will decrease performance and gas mileage.

Boosting the octane level in your stock vehicle from 91 to 93 or above will allow you to maximize the factory horsepower level. It will not technically “add” horsepower.
