Question 6th gen Camaro SS VS Mustang BOSS

How do you compare the performance of the 6th gen Camaro SS MT VS the Mustang BOSS?

Question

The only information that I was able to find was than on straight line apparently the stock Boss is slightly faster than a stock 6th gen Camaro SS, and also that on a MT test the 5th gen Camaro ZL1 was much faster than the Boss Laguna Seca at the track. Just by thinking that the 6th gen Camaro SS performs similar to the 5th gen ZL1, that maybe it would be able to beat the base Mustang BOSS at the track, I haven't be able to find any direct comparison between both.

A 6th gen SS non 1le is enough to beat a boss around a track. A 15-17 GT runs about the same times as a boss 302 around a road course. We already know that a 6th gen SS absolutely destroys 15-17 GT’s around road courses so there’s no way a boss can keep up.

Looks like the Boss LS was a bit faster than the V6 1LE, but the V8 1LE was much quicker. With all that said I would agree with everyone here a standard SS would be quicker than a standard Boss by a good margin.

Never forget, it took Ford 2 packages to make an S550 Mustang GT even remotely competitive to the SS 1LE

You mean 2 packages, 2 years, an untold amount of free labor from their engineers, and all just to overheat after 1 lap because they didn't give it proper coolers, lol!!

And look what it took to battle the ZL1...!!

And that wasn't even a ZL1 but a procharged SS To be fair, none of the participants were top trim cars, but that said, the Mustang still got whooped. I will not talk about that poor scat pack to protect the... fragile

I was surprised that all the times were in the 12s. Given all the money and hardware thrown at those cars and the Mustang being on drag radials. Of course we don’t know the details on the “track”, but it didn’t look like any of them were lacking for grip at the launch. Also don’t know the air quality, but I was expecting mid 11s with that lineup.

  1. PP (2015)
  2. PP1 (2018)
  3. PP2 (2019)
  4. Mach 1 (2021)

The evolution towards a truly competitive S550 was entertaining.

It must be the elevation and density altitude. The average SS automatic runs 12.1 sec
