While I agree it is far more capable than any GT350R, it will still require downshift a bunch of gears to go from cruising the street to assault vehicle LOL. Similar to how the Voodoos are, if you cruise them at lower RPM, you need to downshift to bring them up to 4000 to really get any feeling of power.

I believe the rear end in the new Z06 is 5.56:1, so there will be plenty of torque multiplication on top of that 460 ft-lbs rating. Because the DCT has higher gear ratios (numerically lower) compared to a normal trans you can't accurately compare the 5.56s to something like the 3.73s in a GT500 without considering the trans ratios. Anyway, you just need to be in a couple gears lower than a normal SB pushrod Chevy. No big deal. I think of my GT - it had 420 ft-lbs, but with 3.55s and the A10 it pushed along just fine at 2.5-3k rpm in lower gears for day to day driving.
The Z06 is going to trap 130+ mph. So it won't feel slow when you push it. Maybe at 2k rpm...but who cares about that when you have 6,600 more rpm to go?

Since getting my ZL1 I haven't had car envy of anything mere mortals or moderately successful people can afford (i.e., <$100-110k e.g. GT500, C8 Stingray, lightly used or base model GT-R, Hellcats, used 911s, etc.). Heck, since owning the ZL1 I don't have envy for a C7 Z06...
But the C8 Z06, wow, what a machine. 8,600 rpm. 2 hp /c.i.! Assuming it's reliable, I think the LT6 will go down as one of the top 4 greatest engines ever (up there next to the modern Ferrari and Lambo V12s and the Lambo V10). And the wider/larger wheels/tires, wider fenders, updated front/rear fascias, much better wheel designs, and the overall updates make it look a lot better than a base C8 IMO. I am also pleasantly surprised about the hp rating. I thought it would be 620ish hp. 670 hp is icing on the cake. I suppose it is just as heavy as a Stingray, otherwise I think they would have advertised it as lighter than the base C8. So, likely 3620+ lbs., but maybe the Z07 package will be at or under 3,600 with the CF wheels and CC rotors.

I didn’t really want to call Shaffe out.
The revealed 0 to 60 confirmed what I suspected was coming and made me recall him asking if the Z06 would be uninspiring on the street due to its FPC, high reving engine. The Z06 is not going to feel slow on the street. It’s going to get off the line in a hurry. 0 to 60 times 2.6 sec - Z06None of these cars are manual.

LT6 looks nice. Ford did VooDoo zero favors by not going with a dual intake and throttle bodies setup.

The Z06 is going to be a beast. I don't think I ever said it would be slow either lol. I think where I got hung up was hotlap saying he didn't like the idea of when he drove a Mustang having to get it up to 4-7K to get power out of it and get it moving. The Z06, will also require getting the engine way up in the RPM range to get it moving- the difference is with the mid engine and DCT and the over all gearing. So the Z06 is still gonna need to be screaming in the RPM range to get moving the difference is its doing everything way faster than the Mustang and GT350 and just about everything else hahaha |

Add 200+ lbs to get to the "wet" weight (maybe 250 lbs). That's the "curb weight" we all refer to, not the dry weight. So, likely 3,630+ lbs for the Z07, and the regular Z06 possibly approaching 3,700 lbs.
It will still be screaming fast.

No argument, just wanted to post the numbers from the Corvette info page.

What I didn't know was by using the dual intake and having three valves between them they can dramatically extend the torque curve across the rev range, and they also achieve a slightly HIGHER than atmospheric pressure going into the cylinder. Here is a great video of Chevy explaining the engine design at a cutaway model: And here is Engineering Explained doing his take on the tech behind the LT6: |
