Race stars are little heavier then advertised. I had a set on my 4th gen...they are good for the price. Could be tire selection...I know Hoosiers tend to be lighter then Mickey's. For example the DR2 is 10lbs lighter a tire then the Street R in the same size. Either way the car is going to go faster. 10.4 is my guess.

My Race Stars are pretty much as advertised. 17x4.5 are 17 lbs and 17x9.5 are 19 lbs. Don't like the shank style lugs but the wheels are priced right compared to welds. A two piece wheel is always going to be higher in price then a 1 pc cast style wheel.

I have the race star 17/10.5 with the mt street SS, when I weighed them it was about the same as the stock set up, which makes sense the SS are supposed to be 8lbs heavier than the Rs.

I am looking at getting the same skinny set up as you in the spring, it looks like it will save me about 46lbs of rolling weight.

I gotta cut some weight, the race weight on some of the NA cars is 300lbs less than the weight I run at. Gives me something to do over the winter.

pull passenger/rear seats, aero space drag brakes, drag wheels, and dump suitcase gets these cars into the 3350-3400 range pretty easy.

Finally made it to the track this past Saturday 03/30/18. RPM out of Wilmington DE had a late model shootout at Cecil County in MD. My previous PB on street tires was 1.738 60ft, 10.871 @ 128.93.

Since then I have added 2" kooks, RF big gulp & NW103, retuned at CSP which it made 653/618. Also this was the first time out on my drag pack:

Front
Wheels: Race Star 92's 17x4.50 5x120BC 1.75"BS GLOSS BLACK
Tires: M/T ET FRONT 27.5/4.0-17

Rear
Wheels: Race Star 92's 17x10.5 5x120BC 7" BS GLOSS BLACK
Tires: M/T ET STREET R BIAS 28x11.5-17.

This is my first experience on DR's with a manual with this much HP. I was really happy to improve, although I was hoping for better. I need some more practice to get the 60ft down. The MPH is there for a 10.50 pass, just need to cut .1 from that 60ft and I should be there. I was probably the slowest car in the class, and in the final 4 I was taken out by a 9.50 CTSV from RPM with a maggie and NOS. But it was so much fun to be at the track on a beautiful day making passes.

Best Pass to date: 10.705 @ 131.92mph

I think your doing great, I would consider buying a lowering kit and dropping your ride 1.5 inches and I use the phastech kit. My car has always mph'd better then most and I believe its Aero. My car launches just as hard and have had 1.45 60ft as my best so far on the old motor.

Thanks laynlo15! I have looked at the lowering springs on and off, just afraid of tire clearance at this point, already rubbing the driver side rear liner. I don't know if i can get into the 1.4's 60ft with the M6, maybe, maybe not. I had no problems hooking, no clutch slippage, going to keep giving it more and more RPM. Most i gave it this weekend was about 3500.

Good luck and have fun in GA!

I just switched over to the 305-45-17R radial. Hope they hook this coming weekend in Atlanta. I think you can get in the 1.50's with just some more track time.

Funny, I just noticed you got your wheel from Kent's, I got my full setup from him, he was good to work with.

I know Mike very well. My Camaro was on their catalog a couple year ago with a 69 Camaro. I ran their wheels with Hoosiers over the last couple years. Decided it was time for a change. The only difference is I went with the 10.5 wheels this year and then had the face machined from 7.00 to 7.40 for the back space, really tucks the tires. My car really leaves with the tires tucked way up inside so I wanted to make sure no issues as I did with the 9.5 rear wheels before. I went from the 6.00 bs like you have to 6.40 bs.

Did you have Race Star machine your wheels or take them to someone? Looking at many pictures of the drag stars on other 6 gen Camaros, I was surprised at how far the recluse I put on the back of mine stuck out, even though it's supposed to have the same backspace. So I was thinking of getting mine machined to increase the backspace a bit.

beautiful car, it looks badass on that drag setup. the hp times and comparison seems odd, though. 417 whp it went 116. 653 whp it went 128. 12 mph gain from almost 250 whp? that is suspect, at best. i’ve seen mid teen cars spray 150 first hand and go 130. just curious, something doesn’t add up.

i’m really struggling with which direction to go, blower or na. i feel like both would trap similar but the blower would be the cheapest and easiest route. lots of 540 whp cam only cars going 130+.

Thanks for the compliments. There might be a mph or 2 in there when I get the 60ft down. But take a look at the Power Adders Stock Displacement fast list on the forum here, the MPH is on par for the ET, and actually you stated 128 mph, it went almost 132 mph, so maybe thats where you dont see things adding up. I really don't see anything suspect about it. There are guys running 10.20' at only 133, then there is a 10.20 @ 139.

On street tires I went 10.87 @ 128 with 620rwhp
On my drag pack I went 10.70 @ 132 with 653rwhp

Actually he gained 15mph. But the hp gain came with a weight penalty. Have to get the car moving, and that extra weight hurts. So not the same efficiency as it was when NA, or the same as nitrous either.
