I feel like my trash talking doesn't hit like it used to since I have a GT now!! Gotta say, I really do enjoy driving the GT despite it having much less power. And the exhaust note really is phenomenal!! |

Don’t understand the Mustang hate. Had a Mustang GT and loved it. Yes, stock exhaust was hard to beat too. I just like the SS more and I find it’s a better value in the way the trims are priced.

Most of us who hate Mustangs hate them based on our individual experiences with them. Me personally, I don't hate ALL Mustangs. I just strongly dislike a lot of them for various reasons. Among the Stangs I do like are the 18+ GTs, 13-14 GT500s, S197 BOSS 302s, Termis, New Edge Mach1s, New Edge non-Termi Cobras, and the Fox 5.0s. I think the 15-17 GTs were garbage (and I owned one) the S550 GT350s are trash, The new Mach 1s are trash, the new GT500s are overpriced garbage, the 3V GTs aren't even worth mentioning, the New Edge GTs were an embarrassment to all Muscle Cars...etc.

I had to make this decision earlier this year. Mach 1 or SS 1LE? I had a '14 GT Track Pack S197 Mustang which I loved, and went down the mod rabbit hole with. I learned to drive on track in that car, and I'm glad I did. Why?
It was not a good handling car, but it did feel scary, raw and visceral. There was a ton of body motion to manage, the direction transitions were not so good, and then there was the solid rear axle. It took a lot of driver mod to reign it in. But I did springs, adjustable dampers, adjustable sway bars, camber plates, CAI + tune, trans bushings to make the shitty MT-82 passable, GT500 rear brakes ..... In the end the car handled much better, and was quite quick around a racetrack. But it took a LOT of effort. But the Coyote revs out beautifully and sounds amazing. Always loved that motor. So this time I chose a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE Now yesterday was my first track day in the Camaro. It was wet most of the day, but we got 1 good dry session. And the car is fantastic. Body motions are well manages and the damping is great. It stays flat in corners, it is neutrally balanced, had huge cornering grip, and I like the tall gearing. It's exactly what I was looking for. Competent, well handling track car, which needs nothing except for brake pads and fluid. My 2017 BMW M2 was just like this, but with 200lbs less weight and about 100hp less. I like the Camaro better than the Mustang or the M2. I think the Mustang "felt" faster due to how well the motor reved out, and shorter gearing. The Camaro "feels" slower to me since the revs build slower and the really tall gearing. But in lap times they are not even close. 1LE all the way. |

At Sonoma Raceway on Sunday there was a beautiful Mach One, just like the one in the above video. I went and talked with him after the second session, I'd asked how much he like it, and he said he was "truly disappointed" with the car. He was working with tire pressures, etc. He said he couldn't tell what the front end was doing, and the steering offered no feedback. We had three sessions to go when he left for the day. He mumbled something getting rid of it. He was very disgusted. I wish I'd asked him what his previous car was.
