Apex Wheel Options
Just wanted to share what wheel options they have. Just adding it to the wish list. Hopefully Santa is good too me this year or Mr. Tax Return.
Email response: Cory Smetzler (APEX Race Parts) Dec 12, 15:19 MST Hi Richard, Thank you for the email and I will lay out a few options for you below. My first question is how wide of a tire would you like to run? The most common setup used on the 1LE is the EC-7 in 19x10.5" ET22 squared which does require a small 5-8mm spacer to be used with cars that have Mag Ride. This allows them to run a 305/30-19, which has a lot of options for tires. Another option would be the SM-10 if you're looking to stick with a staggered fitment. You can run 19x10" ET25 or 19x10.5" ET22 up front, both need a 5mm spacer, and pair it with 19x11" ET44 in the rear. This would be best suited for a 285/35-19 up front and a 305/30-19 in the rear. I've attached a few pictures of the 19x10.5" ET22 square fitment. This guy (owns both) is running a 285/35 tire so he only needs to use a 5mm spacer on the front. I would anticipate some 305 tires needing an 8mm spacer just due to them being a little wider of course. Unfortunately we do not offer a wider wheel that does not require a spacer up front at this time. Also keep in mind all of our Camaro wheels require the use of a hub centering ring since they (the wheels) are produced with a 72.56mm center bore. Can't see the photos - however there's a few of us around here that are running these wheels.
I for one, am running a 19x10.5 ET22 setup with 305/30/19 square tires. i ground part of my strut mount as with a -3 camber youll run into the strut. If you're feeling really froggy, you can even get into an 18" setup, which allows for some good 305/35/18 or 305/680/18 take offs. I'm also running an 18x10.5 ET 22 square with a 10mm spacer up front, it doesn't poke too bad due to the amount of camber i have. Apex makes great stuff and those guys are great over there. |

Move_Over, I'd love to see pictures of the 305/30 on a 19x10.5. I'm wondering how the sidewall would look. I'm looking for a set of 19s and would like to be able to mount a range of tires on them from 275 to 305. A guy local to me said he'd get me a set of Federal 595RS-RR tires for $600 and I'd like to try them.

Here you go, probably upside down lol. Does he have the federal RSRR in a 305? I’d be interested in a set for auto X if he does |

Too bad about the need for spacers. I have been trying to eye ball a set of new, lightweight 19” wheels for a while. I’ve had some bad experiences with spacers in the past.

100% agree. Spacers are fine for the street. No bueno on track. Is it really that much more expensive to manufacture them as 'blanks' and let customers spec the offsets?

With no spacer, I am at 9.5 to 10 turns. So, if I add, say a 3mm spacer, I've taken two full turns away. There are plenty of people that run with 'x' mm of a spacer with stock studs. With extended studs, that's different as long as the spacers and well designed so they are lug or hub centric to keep from causing imbalance / vibration and also possible thread damage. |

Spacers are fine for the track with the correct thread engagement. Extended studs are so easy on this car my grandmother could have done it. Littlerly took me 10 minutes for both sides. I’ve been running spacers on track cars for years and there’s not an issue.

A small (3-15mm) spacers really are not an issue with extended studs to get the correct clearance. Next time you are in the paddock, go poke around some of the real race cars, you’ll see one or two.. Now, I wouldnt recommend bolt on spacers with the lug studs built in for the track nor would i hop on eBay and snag a set of spacers and go drive them 10/10 on the track. Not all spacers are created equal |
