Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's
Put my order in yesterday with Firestone.
285/30/20 305/30/20 We will see, nothing but rave reviews from the Corvette and SS community. Got a lot of the RE11 technology built in. "The Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 uses a new, high-performance, silica-enhanced Long Link Carbon tread rubber compound molded into an aggressive-looking asymmetric tread design featuring large independent shoulder blocks designed to improve cornering and handling in dry conditions. The center circumferential groove features proprietary Pulse Groove Technology to enhance water evacuation, and combined with the new tread compound and two additional circumferential grooves, provides shorter stopping distances in the wet than its predecessor. The tire's internal structure features a high-turnup polyester casing (2 ply in some sizes) beneath twin high-tensile steel belts and nylon reinforcement to provide responsive handling, stability and high-speed capability." They’re a nice tire for the price, however that tire size in the rear may cause some issues at 1.3” larger than the stock tire. Could cause some issues as it’ll be spinning a lot slower than your front tire, causing issues with traction control. Let us know if you run into any issues.

Why go with a 35 sidewall in the rear?

Any plans to track the car? Curious how much they give up compared to the Supercar 3's.

Their website(firestones) is only showing a 285/35 and a 305/35. You will more than likely run into your front spring perch mount with a 285/35/20, just Fyi. I want to see it work for you because i like the tires, but don't want to see you waste your mulah.

But, the 35 has been run on our cars with zero problems, there are several write ups on them. |

I ran those on my Mustang and just the small caveat of "for the money", because the Firehawk name doesn't come with a premium price, they're an exceptional tire. As too was mentioned if you called them the Bridgestone Re003 they would be pricier.
I would put these on my 1LE with no reservations at all but if my budget allows me to I'd consider the PS4s |

Can you post up some info on that 35 profile tire in the wheels and tire thread? I’m curious to see how they are doing it as i simply don’t think there is the space for that under the 1LE / ZL1 spring perch. There’s only about 9mm worth of room over the stock 285/30 tire, and a 285/35 is nearly 13mm taller sidewall height. |
