Dodge has found a way to stretch the life of the Challenger, it would be a real shame if Chevy gave up on the Camaro.

Sadly, this is what I've heard as well. I've been hoping that it's wrong but it certainly looks like it's holding true.

I really hate it.

I really hope not! In a way I don’t see them cutting the Camaro again due to the Mustang being around.

I think it’s the right thing to do , this way it opens the doors to new technology that would have the old Camaro diehards in tears . It’s time for a new first generation of high performance built for the times .

I don't think I will be too upset if this turns out to be true in a few years believe it or not... BUT if this is true we better get a 6th gen Z/28 before it is axed!!!

If all goes well I may be trying to get into a mid-engine Vette in 3-4 years anyway so who knows if this will even affect me.

Kind of disagree. If the platform the Camaro is based on is going away, then the car goes away if GM decides not to migrate the car to the updated platform built in the same plant.

If I was a bean counter, it would be hard to justify keeping it alive with seriously declining sales compared to the competition. I was afraid we'd see this announcement coming based on what I've seen over the last year or two. Declining car sales trends, loosing Al O., controversial design changes, and A8 transmission problems certainly haven't helped keep the buyers loyal.

Well that will suck. Just another sign that the future of muscle/sports/GT cars is going away. I will not own a Mustang even if Ford keeps it. Challenger has to change or go away also. The hobby I have known and loved for 40 years of my life is slowly going away. Dark dark times ahead........

Unfortunately, that "modern times" performance vehicle will probably be an electric or hybrid crossover SUV.

Kind of surprises me actually if this is true. Everyone here loves to tout that numbers don't matter it's all about profit and ATP blah blah but volume numbers do matter. Which is why this would be confusing to me. Yes Camaro volume is down, way down compared to the 5th gen but the whole segment is down. The most confusing part though is Cadillac.

I don't think Cadillac with the CT4 and CT5 will be able to sustain enough volume to keep the plant running without the Camaro volume as well...unless they have something else planned for AlphaII that we don't know about

I own a 17 1LE and enjoy it every time I drive it. I always look for challenges, but no one will bit. Until, I came across with a Tesla S and that electric car is quick and fast, but handling is not that good. I can see Chevy building a electric muscle/performance car and calling it the Chevelle with a 1LE type suspension, so they can compete with cars like the Tesla. That is my opinion.
