1Le rear diff change

Went to dealer to get the rear diff fluid changed. They charged me 200$ for it. Is that normal? Feels like i am getting ripped off.

I've seen people post all sorts of prices their dealers charged and/or quoted them. It does seem a bit high though.

When I had my '16 2SS mine cost $125 at the dealer....I bought 2 quarts from dealership and a hand pump from O'reilly's (all less than $50), just haven't gotten around to changing mine yet in the ZL1....

I was quoted $150. The fluid is like $40 shipped off Amazon so I just ordered my own, goes in this weekend.

And this is what happens when threads are being moved out of this section, they just kept getting reposted.

Sorry, had to

Dealers seem to be overcharging for this across the country, it has been mentioned numerous times. If you can change your own oil, you can do this. It is an easy job that might actually be easier than engine oil.

You talking about the e-LSD fluid or the gear oil? e-LSD doesn't need changed @ 1500 miles. Gear oil does need changed after 1500 miles if you are tracking the car (per manual).

Gear oil change should be less than $100. $40 for fluid and less than 1hr labor. e-LSD, I have no idea what that'd cost, nor the maintenance schedule for it either. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

Lol yep, wasn't there a thread about this last week?

An option if you don't want to change it yourself is to order the oil online (~$40) and pay the dealer the labor, should just be 1 hour.

The fluid alone from the dealer is around $60. Doesn't take more than 30 minutes to change it, but I bet your dealer charged you 1hr of labor at $150 per hour.

Somebody who has done this change should do a write up, list everything that is needed, and maybe even a how to, and we can ask for it to be made a sticky.

Then all these multiple threads will stop, and everyone will have a place to go to see what is needed and such.
