California legal headers?
Headers?
I'm fairly new here and I was wondering if you guys could post up some good headers that are California legal. I wanna be able to still pass smog but sound mean/aggresive haha For the 2SS btw Thanks guys. |

I'm not from cal or know there rules... But I would think if you had a catted ypipe with AIR/EGR Long tubes it should pass. If wrong someone feel free to tell him otherwise

Only shorties are legal in CA, LT (long tube) headers move the cats back, thus they will not pass visual. I'm in the same boat, plus, I'm not sure I want to void warranty on a tune.
If I figure the tune out and dealer is fine with it, I'll probably go LT simply because it will be 6 years until I have to smog and then every other year, therefore I could put the stock back on. Just keep your parts!

If you're looking for sound but want to stay CA legal, lose those two huge mufflers in the back. You'll also get rid of about 70 useless pounds of weight in the process.

I thought I was good with just the muff delete but after the shorties I was much happier... Then after going FI I wanted it even deeper so went 3" catback and is now perfect!

Remember any part modification must have a CARB E.O. number to be California legal.

Doug Thorley shorties carry a CA CARB. I highly recommend them.

I stand corrected. They're not legal in CA. Sorry for the misinformation.

What if you move into the state? How does that affect previous work done?

Thanks for the input guys.
I'll look into the shortys. So what exactly did some of you mean when you said you'd put the long tubes on, then just take them off when you had to pass smog, then put them back on? |
