FBO E77 Camaro SS with LT2 Manifold Drag Time

Hey Camaro6,

I've been looking for drag times on youtube for FBO E85 LT2 Intake Manifold Camaro setups and I haven't seen any yet. Yesterday was my first time going to the drag strip this year with DA at 705 last time I checked before running the car. I ran a 11.83 at 117.65. I'm no drag expert but I am just sharing it for others and my track experience. What do you guys think? Do you think with a DR, i would hit 11.3-11.5? Do you see room for improvement? I am running my car on staggered 19s with 285/35 front and 325/30 with Continental ECS. I am mostly a road course guy but I like going to the drag strip since the masses like to show these type of numbers.

SN: I was expecting a good run with the Modded Caprice but his tire fell off...

Wow on a street tire or with a Drag radial?

On a Mickey Thompson et street r radial - 275/40-17 or 305/40

I like the 275 but 305 might be better for an auto

Interesting, I may consider getting me a rear drag setup to improve these times.. that's a huge difference... I assume on a street tire the best one could do..

Yes there was few camaros there. Maybe 4-5. A lot of ZL1s. The ZL1 guys was running against other cars with "No Time". I guess for bragging rights & money. It was hard to get a line up with them since there was so many grudge races. I joined the test and tune group. My club member/Camaro6 forum member "martinjlm". camaro has headers catted, tony mamo v2 TB and e85 with stock manifold.

The other camaro's i seen was a cammed and e85 only camaro, and 2 stock camaros in SS form.

Here is my time slip from the video i posted.

the 1/8 mile doesn't look bad on that pass. the car was short a few mph to the 1/4 like you let off early or something. were the other cars with similar mods running times like yours?

How could you tell it was short a few mph? I possibly did let off early. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any one with similar mods. I will be on the look out next time for sure.

because the car picked up <23 mph 1/8-1/4. most stock/bolt on cars regularly pick up 25-26 mph. could be a tuning issue, could've let out early, could be a track equipment thing, there are a lot of variables, its hard to say.

Yes, drag radials will help the ET, as plain street tires like your ECS and my PS4S, are just not adequate for best drag performance from this front-engine/rear-drive car. That said, my opinion is that your car is still not really running as well as it should right now. I think that your mph, both at the 1/8 and the 1/4, is low for having 480 rwhp, while not having the weight of a supercharger to contend with. I say this because I have a partial-bolt-on (exhaust is all-stock) SS with A8, and I ran 11.5@122 in the 1/4 on PS4S tires mounted on the stock wheels, rears being 275/35-20. Yes indeed, it was spinning.

Edited to add: 98 at the 1/8.

Ahhh ok thank you for the insight.

Ohhh ok. I was going over the film again and I noticing how I was using launch control. It appears launch control in our cars is not the best from factory with the stock convertor. When I was pre-staging the car, it appears i may have been bogging the engine down too much but I'm not sure. Maybe next time I dont use launch control on stock converter and just brake and once the light change smash the gas instead.

Hmmm, maybe the launch control hurt your mph at the 1/8 to some extent?

As far as techniques, I was just doing T/C off (single tap of TC button), not Launch Control, for the 11.5 plain street tire run. If you want to try turning off the nannies and driving the car like I was doing (without LC and without TC), then my opinion is that you will need to apply the throttle carefully, instead of just smashing it, on the plain street tires. Mine with the 275 PS4 on the back was sketchy anyway, and was still spinning at the top of first gear on the 11.5 run.

You can plug any of your numbers into the online drag calculators and get the computation of what the data should be.
I actually have a plastic slide rule drag calculator from Moroso 1980’s tech
