New ZL1 owner
Hi Forum,
Just picked up a used ZL1 that I've been enjoying since Sunday. It appears to be more capable then the 2009 Corolla I drove for the last 10 years to save money for the kids. The only thing I've run into so far is that I have a short but steep driveway. When I turn into the driveway at an angle to avoid scraping, one of the rear tires comes off the ground. I keep leaving little mini burnout marks. Does anyone know of a better way? Also, feel free to please share any advice for things I should be doing regarding service (Currently @ 14k miles). I look forward to contributing to this forum someday as I gain more experience with the car. Thank you! |

I don't really understand the mini-burnout situation.

Reznap, it's hard to tell if you're joking with that "appears to be more capable" (under)statement, but one thing's sure, you've invited some roasting, whether or not you meant to
Congratulations on the car, it's an amazing beast As to your driveway, try tour or snow mode and less throttle input. The chassis is (fortunately) very rigid and it's quite possible that you would lift a wheel in that situation.

look for driveway curb risers. It may help with the approach angle on the driveway so your dont raise the rear tire during transition.

Happens to me sometimes too. I find its better to roll through it slowly rather than stop and start again.

I have a pretty steep driveway as well.
I knew it was gong to be a concern when I built the house so I made sure the approach angle was a certain angle for a certain distance then increased at a certain rate. I still have to come in at an angle, but I have yet to rub on mine. It requires me to use 3/4 of the road coming from one direction, but it works. I like the curb riser idea. That’s pretty cool. Yep, curb risers. The chassis on these cars is insanely stiff.

Had mine 2 months now...I have the same problem going into my driveway. The tire chirp is just my way of saying I am home.

Thanks for the welcomes!
Yes I would say its a nice change of pace compared to the Corolla . I will try the snow/ice/touring mode for the driveway as I've mostly been in sport. Is there a write up anywhere that explains each mode in more depth, aka "track mode gives you 30% slip angle before reigning you in."? |

These folks can fix you right up. I have 5 sections in my drive. These are super sturdy. Mine are over 5 years old. They will do a Google Earth to look at your house, if you call them on the phone.
