Convertible Top Gasket Broken?

Hey guys, I noticed that my gasket on both sides has been torn where it meets the flat portion of the top. It looks torn on both sides. Would never have noticed if I hadn't stopped the top half motion. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I think the gasket material is poor quality. My car has 2,000 miles on it and I noticed a hole in the gasket along the front edge where it meets the windshield frame (on the driver's side).

I'm going to have to go and meticulously check the rest of it as I will be having the dealer potentially replace the top anyway.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have 2 months left on my warranty and after that I’ll be getting an extended bumper to bumper warranty just because of this damn top. I’m surprised that your gasket is already deteriorating. There should be a service bulletin on this. Maybe most people don’t notice until it’s too late.

Check the terms of the extended warranty carefully before you purchase it. As I recall the convertible top is specifically excluded from the GM extended warranty.

Oh wow that’s definitely good to know! I’m supposed to go over it at the dealership when I bring my car in. I’ll ask about it specifically.

Here is a picture of my 2016 2SS convertible. It looks different than yours. Maybe they changed the design?

Yours looks good! It’s weird because I just got it back from the dealer after they fixed it for me, and they pulled out a brand new 2020 vert and ALREADY that weather sealing was starting to rip.
