Canadian Dealer Service Cost

Hey Guys,

For those that get their cars serviced at the GM Dealership:

1. How much are you paying for oil changes on your Camaro SS?

2. Has anyone done a tranny fluid flush on an A8? Local dealer quoted me first $200 over the phone, then later $600 after looking at it. Apparently the new Camaro SS is "like some of their new pickup trucks", where their standard machine cannot be used, and is labor intensive.

Can't comment on the oil changes, but I know from reading around that the trans flush requires a specific machine that sucks the old fluid out and pumps the new fluid into the transmission. Between that and having a specific Mobil formulated fluid to avoid shudder in the A8 probably makes it fairly expensive.

I'm not in Canada, but that is partly true, the flush requires special equipment. However, the allocated labor time as per the applicable TSB is only 1.1 hours, my trans was done in about 1.5, so $600 is pretty steep even in Canadian dollars. The amount of fluid required is 20 quarts at about $7 a quart retail, the dealership probably sources it cheaper.

$600 seems too much. I'd say $200 - $350 CND for a tranny flush. Also maybe depends where in Canada your located.

Oil change on these cars should be more than $83 if your getting full synthetic oil which should be mandatory IMO. I'm guessing closer to $150 CDN for full synthetic. I haven't had to get one yet so I really don't know for sure.

Have you bought your car used? Cause after 3 years you are due for an oil change haha.

I have had all my oil change done for free (4 oil changes for free when I bought the car) so I can't tell how much it is. But I have the I4 with only 5quarts of oil so that shouldn't be representative of what it would cost you.

to do it yourself with full synthetic 10 qts of Pennzoil cost me 85, and that was with it half off at canadian tire. so id second the 150.00 range for one done at the dealer.

as for the tranny flush i had the shudder and that required a triple flush which was covered under warranty thankfully but was 1500.00, so id estimate the 300.00 range max for a single regular flush!

Dale Zee, unless the flush was done with the correct fluid (check the part number on the invoice, it should be 19417577 for Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP), the shudder will return.

You may want to visit the dealer and get them to do a single flush based on technical service bulletin 18-NA-355 ("Shake and/or Shudder During Light Throttle Acceleration", Aug 2019) before your torque converter sustains too much damage, because then you'll have an even more difficult time getting them to replace it for free.

Ive had about 30 or so oil changes at about three different dealerships - and they average 85 to 105 plus taxes.

Could you name a couple? Preferably on the west side

Last couple times, it was $160 in Burlington.

160 sounds about right if its full synthetic.
