How's the AC in the ZL1?
Hi all,
I had a 2016 Z06 for 2 years. I live in an area where it's pretty hot in the summer, and the AC didn't get very cold. I attributed it to heat from the supercharger. Prior to that car, I had a 2002 Z06 and 2006 Z06, and as we all know were NA, the AC was cold. I miss the thundering V8 and am contemplating the ZL1. I DD my car, so AC needs to work. Thanks, |

To me it is better than what I had in my 2012 CTS-V, so I am happy with it. My CTS-V was black and my ZL1 is white though.

Mine gets uncomfortably cold in the dead of summer to the point where I have to turn it down. It and the vented seats are pretty fantastic IMO.

Works good. Especially when using the cooled seats

I find that the AC seats are ok. They don't work like some others I've used. Like the Tahoe, for instance.
And that on real hot days, you're better leaving the floor vents plus the dash (the ones that blow air against the front window) on. The ones that blow onto you are just at an awkward angle that they don't really blow the cold air onto you. It seems to be more into your hands than your body. Plus with the low roof line, the AC doesn't seem to keep the car at a comfortable temp unless you do like I mentioned before. You can feel the heat at the top of your head. They're not AC seats, so they're not going to work as good as those. They're just ventilated with fans, but they do a really good job if the car is already cool. It does take a while to cool the seats if the car has been baking in the sun for several hours with the windows up.

No issues, cooled seats are AWESOME!
Of course, I think most I got to last year was mid 90's w humidity. Center vent location kinda sucks, blows right at your arm, so I cross them, pass side aimed at driver and vice versa.

I have the Weapon-X Boost Freeze Chiller, and I swear my AC seems to be even colder than before...I have no basis for that claim, except now my AC seems to do what it was supposed to do!
So for me, getting the chiller benefitted me and my car! LOL |

I've been through 2 summers with the AC in my ZL1 and it's more than up to the task. Believe it or not, it can get pretty hot in Kansas...highs in the middle of Summer are usually in the upper 90's and even low 100's (and definitely NOT a "dry heat").
The same way that some cars can have a noticeably weaker (or stronger) engines others of the same year and model, I'm certain that some cars can also have weaker (or stronger) AC systems. Perfect example... When I traded in my 2010 SS for my 2013 SS in May, I immediately noticed that the '13's AC didn't work nearly as well as the one in my '10 SS (and my '10 even had a TSP underdrive pulley)....it wasn't even close. A buddies wife had a 2013 SS, I had her and my car side by side, running for the same amount of time and at the same temperture, her's was noticeably colder than mine. It was so bad that I took it to the dealer TWICE to have it looked at....both times they told me it was within spec and there were no issues. I got a copy of the AC ops check and an AC thermometer measure the temps of the outflow air so that I could do the check-out myself. I checked it a few times, and each time I did, it was ALWAYS within limits....barely, but it was "good" according to the maintenance manual. The AC in my '17 ZL1 (black and without tinted windows) is MUCH colder and more efficient than my '13 SS (blue WITH tinted windows). No issues at all with the ZL1. I'm thinking the issue with your Z06's AC wasn't the supercharger, it was just weak from the factory for some reason?
