ZL1 Addons rear Diffuser review

I installed the ZL1 Addons diffuser today so I thought I’d write up a quick review. The package came FedEx in a taped up triangular cardboard package. Parts were perfect condition and as advertised. Very good quality piece and fairly heavy duty, more so than I expected. It came with 2 black screws, flat washers, and nuts, no instructions.

Install was advertised as very easy and quick. The problem I ran into though was there are 4 holes in the diffuser but only 2 screws holding the OEM valence, so it was obvious that the outer 2 holes would have to be drilled (1/4” drill bit) and use the supplied screws and nuts. The center 2 holes lined up with the factory screws so reuse of the screws would be required. However, upon installing the diffuser it became clear that the OEM screws were just too short to get them started so I had to resort to my stash of longer screws in my truck. Once the center screws are in and holding the diffuser up the outer holes can be drilled. There is no mention of this on their website and no instructions came with the diffuser so be aware that drilling is necessary! Once the outer holes are drilled the black screws and nuts can be installed. I added a stainless lock washer and changed the flats to stainless.

Overall impression is positive and the install was fairly easy once I figured out the longer center screws. Having someone to help hold it up would be good but I did it alone with my knee holding one end up as I screwed in the other end.

Helps cut the air moving under the car to improve handling at speed. Plus they look cool. LOL

Yeah, kinda looks like, well...an add on! Like the concept though. Looks like it hangs a little low, curbs and speedbumps could be an issue.

For it to work it should have been built into a bumper and not something that just, well, adds on. I’m not digging it

I prefer the replacement diffusers instead of simply adding on. The only problem is the replacement diffusers only support the quad tip exhaust...

That's technically a rear valence. It attaches to the bumper like stock and gives the appearance of a diffuser.

A legit diffuser usually mounts completely under the car and is flat, with a rake of 10-15 degrees at the tail end. https://www.google.com/search?q=diff...I3aNX88ELuBOzM

Same with "splitters"... most people refer to front lips or air dams as a splitter. APR makes a legit splitter.

gm, and most other companies make front lips and air dams. Theyre a dime a dozen.

Don’t be sorry, I appreciate everyone’s opinions! I’m actually on the fence too after seeing it on the car. Funny thing is I may be pulling it off because it won’t work with the Solo Performance axleback I might go with!

The ZL1 Addons diffuser is one of the few that is designed correctly. It has 5 to 12 deg angle and strikes and mounts under the car.

If you look at diffusers on race cars they are not pretty, but they work. It creates a low pressure area under the car which generates down force.
