hey guys, just thought I would share with you track brothers!

5w40 Valvoline MST dexos2 approved oil is on sale right now at napa. You can order online and ship to your closest store if it isn't in stock.

*Disclaimer, i'm a Canadian and live close to the USA border so I plan on driving down and picking up 42 quarts of it. the stuff up here is like 13 bucks a quart and I thought this was a good deal! Maybe it's not, but just wanted to share my findings with you.

That is a really good price.

Does anyone know the difference between that and the modern car version for vehicles newer than 2012? I saw both at Walmart the other day and was curious as to which would be better for our cars.

Napa has been running this oil on monthly sales for awhile now. It's all of been using so far in the car. I pick up 11 from my local store so I have a spare.

Think I'm gonna run the Valvoline 5/30 MST unless you guys think running the 5/40 MST daily driving doesn't hurt anything. I just did a track event and have been running it for the last 5,000 miles. I still have 10 quarts of the 40, but Napa has the 5/30 MST on sale for $4.99 again. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/VAR787301 Just realized it's Dexos 2 as well.
So much for that idea. Napa doesn't have any of this oil anywhere near NC, so they would charge me freight to get it. Looking for plan B now.

I'm currently running Valvoline 5w40 and it's strictly a street car, 9300 miles.

GM recommends 5/30 under normal use and the 0/40 Mobil ESP or 5/40 Valvoline MST for track use, so I'm trying to go with that. I don't know if there's truly a huge difference or not though.

If you live in a place where the climate is warm during most months of the year in the range of ~ 65-95 ambient, then the 5 or 0 W40 weight would be ideal.
Most important (during the Warranty period), make sure it is included in the Dexos2 certified list and you are good to go.

It's anywhere from the teens here in the winter to 100 plus in the summer. We get it all.....
