Recaro Seat Recline and Comfort

I am new to the forum and have a seat question that probably has been covered before but here goes does the Recaro seats recline back further than the 1ss/2ss seats? Also is the Recaro seat bottom cushion softer or firmer than the 1ss/2ss seats? I have a disability that affects my sitting comfort and I need the softest cushion. I live near Augusta, Ga and our dealers have not had a 1le in inventory since they were put into production several years ago therefore I have not had any opportunity to sit in the seats or test drive.

Thanks,
Kenny

Can't answer how the Recaro seats compare to standard SS seat base cushion but the Recaros ARE pretty limited in how far they can recline. These GM versions seem to have an additional stop in place before the standard Recaro ones. There are several posts on here where people have drilled out the GM "stop" post on the outside of the seats, then broke the inside ones loose by pushing back on the seat with their feet planted firmly on the floor of the car (so they didn't have to remove the seats to get the inside stop posts). I would guess that the back of the seats may go to about 110 degrees before they hit the GM stops.

They're not as "comfy" like the SS seats. They're made for support.

This.. I have recaros and sat in SS seats... SS feels like a couch, Recaros feel stiffer specially on long drives.... Well the 1LE in general is stiffer so I honestly don't think any of the 1LE features would go in a positive manner on your back condition.

You can always make an SS look like a 1LE if that's why you're considering the 1LE over the normal SS

I have a 2SS/1LE and I'm not far from Exit #5. If you want, shoot me a PM and we can try to set up a meet at the Winn Gypsy this weekend for you to try out the seats.

You might want to check out a 5th Gen Camaro. The seats on the 5th Gens weren't at contoured as they are on the 6th Gen so you might find it to be more comfortable.

Oh dang! I think I have seen you around a couple times... that is if you are the only hbm blue 1le around here (I would think so). Would love to meet up sometime!

Thanks MarkC. PM Sent. Thanks you all for the nice comments. Mark114. Yea the 5th Gen 2ss leather seats are wide and soft, I daily drive a Pontiac G8GT and they are similar maybe a little stiffer than the Gen5 seats. I own a 1998 SS 1LE and I really like the package on it and would like to experience the upgrade on a Gen 6. This would not be a daily driver but it at least has to be comfortable for me to drive for at least an hour at the time.
