Just got $500 scrap price for cats

Just got paid $500 for all 4 cats. Dang, that seems like a lot. If you have your laying around don’t give them away too cheap. I wonder what they get for them:

Now you know why cat theft is huge in America.

Perhaps you shouldn’t be advertising this thread.

I posted up because I am sure there are a few people like me with a few cats laying around. Now might be a good time to recycle them.

Very true I did the same thing 3 years ago. The muffler shop must have been laughing their ass off. Paid them for an install and left them a huge tip in leaving my cats there. This time I wisened up, I have my secondary cats from the cat delete and when I put my headers on this time I am also keeping the primary cats like OP did. Thanks for remaining me OP. Cat thieves are big everywhere and a friend of mine that has a couple of car lots gets hit a lot.

Edit: update. Just called my local car junkyard and he offered me $80 each for my secondary cats.

Platinum prices must be way up. I only got $140 for the cats off my 5th gen in 2012.

New Jersey has a new program that takes a picture from under the car in inspection and the computer refences that year and model for the cats. Quite a hefty fine. Many states are looking into this tech.

Got tired of kicking my secondary's around the house. Threw them beside the dumpster and they were gone 2 hours later. Wish I would have known they were worth something.

Good. You should not remove cats. It's illegal, and it stinks. Everyone knows what you did because they can smell it, and they are judging you for it.

Yes Ohio is looking at it too.

We already have the guy at the testing garage walk around the car with an extension mirror underneath. Cameras will provide documented evidence the cats are missing.

I was giving the OP the benefit of the doubt assuming his Camaro is for track use only and not registered for public road use. But operating a car on public roads without the cats is illegal already and will become more difficult to hide as localities tighten the emission regulations.

I’m not judging either.

However, I’ve been rather resolute on having cats on my vehicles for about 20yrs. Even my last mustang had 3” cats as did my LS swapped blazer.
