which brake pads for low dust on 1LE

My stock brake pads dust like crazy. I won't be driving the car hard.

Suggestions on brake pads for my 2022 1LE 6-speed? Some searching yielded Powerstop Z26 pads - any other suggestions or are these the "go-to" for OEM replacement? Any issues with them scoring the factory brembo rotors?

Never used them myself, but practically everyone bothered by brake dust here reach for the Z26, and the majority of them seem to be okay with its performance.

The Powerstop Z26 pads are very good with low dusting. They have a good initial bite feel at lower speeds. When you get on them hard and at higher speeds the pedal feels bit mushy in my opinion and they also give off quite a brake smell under hard stops. Won't hold up to high heat for long, so definitely would not recommend them for the track, but for street use they work pretty well overall.

I just put on Hawk Performance ceramic pads about 6 weeks ago on my 1LE and I love them. Practically zero dust and they feel good.

I'm only gonna chime in because this is a 1LE thread.

'dusty' brake pads are the cost of doing business with a high performance brake setup like on the 1LE.

It's just the nature of the semi-metallic pad.

If you change to a ceramic pad, you will eliminate dust, but also all the benefits of the 1LE braking system. Ceramic pads overheat to fade nearly instantly.

If you use your 1LE as a cruiser and are worried primarily about noise and dust, ceramics are a good choice. If you do any kind of spirited driving, don't use ceramics.

I use z26 pads for my daily, earlier this year I swapped out new acdelco rotors at same time, ~40kmiles, and I would say you do lose some bite compared to brembo pads. I would say it's like 90-95~ bite now with z26 pads.

With that said it's a good trade off for me, brake dust has almost all but been eliminated.

but that's my 2 cents, I don't track my car, just like spirited driving.

front: Power Stop Z26-1405
rear: Power Stop Z26-1718

I run the powerstop z26 for daily duty and switch to the hawk dtc 60s for track days. The powerstops definitely work fine for the street.

Do the copper free brakes use the same powerstop pads as the non copper free brake package?

From what I've read the copper free brakes are slightly larger to manage the heat without copper so I think it's a different size.

Yeah, I can't seem to find aftermarket pads for this package. The stock pads have my wheels covered in dust after a couple miles.

That's why the 1LE wheels have a paint color named "brake dust gray"

This. Luckily, your 1LE wheels are dust-color, so no one will notice. Just raced today...I like me all the brake I can get.

Honestly, the stock pads don't have much dust at all. Get some performance pads...DUST!

Very true on the 1LE wheels being a brake dust color. The brake dust covers my wheels evenly and gives them a nice bronze finish, haha.

If you're not tracking it, go with EBC Redstuff. My dad's got those on his Porsche 718 Boxter S and it stops harder than the factory pads, but has very, very low brake dust. I'll be swapping my factory brakes pads with the EBC Redstuff once I get it.
