CD (MUSIC) PLAYER

Hello all

Has anyone installed a CD player in their 2017 SS? I miss my tunes when I'm driving. Sirius has the genre or the decade but not the song when I want it.

I thought I would miss a CD player, but, I find using a flashdrive plugged into the USB is the way to go.

Thumb drive. I have a couple albums in their own folders on the thumb drive. If you want to listen to that album, just select the folder. It's like having all of your CDs loaded at the same time. I also have folders for recent music and folders for different genres.

Do what I did: get out your 20 year old portable CD player in your stored boxes in the attic or basement from college, get a $5.00 headphone to USB audio converter, and enjoy all your CDs with no hassle.

Or, you can have an FM modulated CD changer installed that plays through a low bandwidth FM station like 88.1 MHz.

How about a subscription to Spotify, then you can Bluetooth any song you want into your Camaro!

What about the roughly 100 8 tracks and 125 cassettes I still have? LOL.

Laugh all you want, but there is a sound quality difference between disc and any kind of stored media. And to compare this to cassette or 8 track, even though you’re joking, is ignorant. CD is infinitely superior audio quality to either of those.

Also, there are headphone jack output to Bluetooth converters available as well. The only drawback using that is it may keep your system from automatically feeding a call through if your phone rings. Unless there’s a way to prioritize multiple Bluetooth accessories so your phone breaks through another bt accessory in use.

Anyone know?

If Bluetooth is playing and a call comes in, it will stop playing and the phone will ring through the stereo. My CUE was setup the same way.

I have about 100 CD's also. Still play them regularly in the 02 Impala that I bought new. Still have a cassette deck in my 79 vette. I wish my son's 17 still had CD player but technology rolls on.

I am an old school grandpa. Took me a while to warm up to spotify (after years of recommendations from my daughter and the younger guys at the office). Once you figure out how to use it...its pretty awesome. I have probably 500 plus vinyl albums, cassettes and even 8 tracks. I can find and save tons of albums on my favorites or better yet create playlists. Try it, you wont ever need or wannt a CD player again.

Or... get an iTunes subscription - it's very rare that I want to listen to a particular song and it isn't in the iTunes library. Streams through the phone to the "infotainment" system. Easy peasy. Works on my High Country with zero problems. Am assuming it will work the same way on that 18 2SS I bought today...
