which is an interesting point.. is this a typo by the author and he meant to say the 6.4L 392, or in fact is Chrysler debuting a new motor.

It's been well documented and discussed that the new Hellcat motor will indeed by a 6.2L. Hell if you can't beat them join them. LOL

Sweet....why not just use the Viper engine to get 640hp? A 6.2 S/C V8 Hemi can't possibly be more efficient.

Well, supposedly Chrysler/Fiat are going to build some Jeeps in the same factory the Yugo rolled out of. (Remember, the Yugo was based on a Fiat).

History always repeats itself. It will most likely happen in a similar manner as the 70s...basically the frog in boiling water metaphor. Horsepower numbers will slowly fall every year, until one day we take a serious, analytical look at the cars around us, and we realize that its the mid-70s, and somewhere along the line, everything available has become $h!t.

I would say either a fitment problem, cost or just the idea of trying to keep a muscle car feel and sound.

I dread this day ,but I would have to agree that we are heading back to the 70's and even worse 80's. I wanted to hang myself in the 80's over the crap that was being built.

Not a game changer but glad to see it happening. 640 is no joke and suspect it'll be available for the whole SRT8 lineup at some point (charger, 300, cherokee).

A 640HP Jeep will certainly be impressive. That will smoke just about any SUV in the world.

The Chevy faithful should thank the Gods that this didn't happen sooner. Imagine the chain of events is Ford announces 622hp, followed by a 640hp Mopar and then the ZL1 at 580hp. I think we'd all be feeling a little differently.

It took them that long for them to work on a contract deal with GM to supply motors.

I wonder if the ZL1 will now get a horsepower bump.
