If you insert it backwards then when you try to start the car it’ll immediately die then you’ll sit there thinking what the hell you did wrong for 10 minutes.

Ok, you cannot get it backwards on a 2020. The mounting points do not line up.

Haven't messed with mine on my 6th gen at all, so not sure, but the previous ones for other vehicles I've dealt with had an arrow indicating direction of air flow as well.

Haha! This made me laugh thinking about working for a tier 1 supplier developing airbag systems for Ford in the mid 90s. A big arrow that states 'Towards Front' along with 3 offset mounting tabs on the ECU didn't mean shit to the typical UAW tech at the Dearborn crash barrier.
