The ZLE has some impressive downforce, so much so it hurts top end speed as has been posted above. A few years ago I took my bone stock C7 Grand
sport to the 3 mile runway at Kennedy space center. From a dead stop to the 2.7 mile trap I did 180 MPH. Later a guy brought his ZLE with 190 more HP and did 178 MPH My Corvette ZLE

I just saw that on MotorTrend we had a discussion on another thread about the wing.
The wing is a plus on the track. If the car had live aero, that would help in the top speed for this car when it's on straights on a track. No question though that the high wing will slow the car down on straight aways. See below post by Chevrolet. "High Speed Oval at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg GmBH proving ground. Compensating for wind speed, the top speed is the average achieved from running the ZL1 in both directions on the 7.6-mile (12.3 km) loop — 202.3 mph in one direction and 193.3 mph in the other direction. https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us...amaro-zl1.html In fact, top speed on ZL1 1LE doesn't exceed 180 because of the wing. "Aero Package May Enhance Handling, But It Cripples The Camaro ZL1 1LE’s Top Speed". See below: https://www.carscoops.com/2019/10/ae...les-top-speed/ Last edited by george; 01-01-2024 at 06:58 PM. |

And your comment about the 1LE having a closer 6th gear ratio means it has a higher top speed. No. It's closer and therefore will have a less top speed than the non 1LE. If the aero on the 1LE was taken off and it had a long enough oval to go to prove which had a hover top speed. But it's all a game to say "My car will go xxx speed" when you will never get close to that or be one of those that will ever truly drive the car the way it was meant to be. |

The 1LE is much quicker. They don't pay for top speed.
The modified NASCAR Camaro ZL1 Cup Car that ran in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans is a 1LE on steroids

That car that run at Le Mans has almost zero in common with a production ZL1 1LE. They were literally testing their new NASCAR design with a few modifications to compete in Le Mans. |

The body? It's just a uniform mold that every Team uses with a bunch of stickers to make it look like the vehicle it represents. The 1LE is much quicker around a road course, yes. In a straight line..... its a drivers race but as the speed increases, the ZL1 pulls away from the 1LE gradually. |

I’ve hit 185+ no problem (in Mexico) and not a ton of room to do it. It was still pulling. I found a matching track model easier than my standard ZL1 but having seen the rear wing and no curves to justify it or the looks I never gave it a second thought and I couldn’t be happier. The track wings just slow you down where I live

Even my new SS has seen some good numbers and apparently the top speed on that isn’t much different than the ZLE. I like a good high speed run now and again and even bested my Haybusa runs with the ZL1

Really? That's hard to believe. I easily hit 185+ on my 04 and 07 R1s time and time again. I felt more comfortable on my R1s than in the ZL1 and obviously needed a lot less room to do that. Though, I wonder how accurate the ZL1s speedo is at 185 mph....I know motorcycles tend to be a lot less accurate the faster they go but I never tested a car.

I have an aftermarket compensator for the hayabusa speedo to maintain accuracy and more room to run years past. It’s a modified unlimited 2000 model with big bore kit 13:1 Ross pistons Weber cam and walks a stock busa without much trouble though nothing crazy still it doesn’t have the top speed of the ZL1 with me on it. Maybe a little tiny guy without much wind load? I’m 6’3

I felt far more comfortable in my ZL1 and don’t even make those type of runs on the bike anymore.

The way I see it the track version starts slowing you down unless curves as soon as it has more drag than the regular version whatever speed that is probably not too high
