I’ve posted this before, but what’s with all the warranty fear? I mean, these cars are fairly simple and inexpensive to fix. I think a new LT4 is something like $9000. Not exactly cheap, but that’s s worst case scenario. It’s not a $40,000 engine like a M5.

The "suggested retail price" on an LT4 is just over $16k, so yea you're right it's no crazy expensive BMW/AMG engine but definitely not cheap.

Warranty is valuable for much more than the engine though, which is still $15k + install/labor.

A tuner here in socal gave some insight that HPTuners should have a fix in the upcoming weeks software wise....
and this only voids engine/transmission warranty.... at least thats what my dealership won't honor in case something mechanically fails which is fine with me

An LT4 crate motor is ~$14k, but I’m seeing about $9400 for a GM replacement engine. Still not cheap, but that’s an absolute worst case scenario. Unless you’re unlucky enough to have some freak failure that destroys the engine. I guess that would kind of suck. For most repairs you’d go to a dealership for, having a tune is totally irrelevant. It might result in a denied powertrain warranty claim depending on the situation, but it’s far from black and white. Working in this industry for over 15 years, I’ve seen a lot of shit. Nobody is going to question a failed water pump, an oil leak, or other “normal” warranty issue. But come in with a rod hanging out of the block, and you’re on your own. |

The issue is from a dig. You won't see it on a road course. I've been on Watkins Glen a couple of times with this car and haven't seen it either.
