Marking Up

Spoke to a dealer in Kentucky about a convertible only to find out they were marking it up 10k over MSRP. Manager said he would lower price on the other two, but not the vert. One would think that if you gave 3 Zl1's in stock perhaps the attempt to rape the customer is not working. Will someone actually pay 10k over MSRP?

I sincerely hope not. If they can get away with it then it might encourage other dealers to set their markups even higher.

There is a black one, with the polished Rims in Jacksonville North Carolina for MSRP.

...I hope not, there's one that's been sitting here at Superior Chevy in Lawrencevile NJ for some time, victory red with black ten spoke wheels. The dealership is in the middle of being sold. Possibly one could make a deal to get the car a MSRP or better.

10k is a little excessive on the vert. Here in Houston there are still some dealers at 15k over. And they wonder why they still have 2012's. I'm getting a white vert automatic in today. You're in Kentucky and I'm in Texas but I will save you thousands. Call me if you're interested. Ryan @ (832)703-4366

Understand that allocations on the Verts are still in very short supply. The dealer I bought mine from was only allowed a single Vert allocation to cover from June to December of this year.

We'll have to wait until after the first of the year to see the next round of allocations for the Verts.

Knowing this, I'm not surprised that dealers would try to charge a premimum for any Verts they happen to have for sale.

There are plenty out there for MSRP. You just have to find them. There is an Ashen Gray Vert on Ebay right now. Apple Chevrolet, in York, PA, has a Red one for sticker too (black wheels, CF insert, 6 speed, MyLink).

when 5ths 1rst rolled out, mark-ups were the norm. Local dealer sold an LT/RS for $15k over MSRP. Really tempting back then, gotta be 1rst few to have it..

Don't pay over sticker, it is crazy. Search around on Autotrader or Cars .Com for what you are looking for and make calls. You will get what you want without paying over sticker.

I paid sticker and I got one of the first ones available, so there is no reason you should be paying a premium for a 2013. Granted I had to buy from Arkansas and I live in Cali, but after 21 phone calls, I found an allocation at sticker just takes a little effort on the buyers part.
