Certainly. But getting into one is a much bigger initial expense. I can gap them and hellcats now anyway

Depends on your goals. SS is or was 15k ish. ZL1 is around double that. If you do your own work, you can hit 450whp fairly cheap and if you started with a 1LE, you would have a solid suspension and 3.91.

The ZL1 comes with lots of great stuff; lord knows I have my fair share of ZL1 parts. If you are looking for 700ish hp, the ZL1 gets you there without a lot of additional expense. However, if you want to go over 1000, you may need an LSX block, D60 or 9 inch rear, T400 or PowerGlide trans, 15 inch conversion, etc. None of that stuff comes on the ZL1 and you would be getting rid of all the stuff that makes the ZL1 better.

Yeah, for me it's all about using the correct combination of parts working in union together to create optimum performance.

Car must be in really low boost to only make that hp with a 2.9l whipple. Plus I noticed no cam

No cam yet. Budgetary constraints, aka "the wife." But it will happen.

1LE will get you 3.91s, but transmission ratio is different. Final combined gear ratio is about the same as a stock gen 5 SS with 3.45s.
