Seems There's always a thread on here with people having crazy electrical problems after
a vtc is installed . I guess that's why the classisfeds always have them for sale . What's the point ? They don't actually improve power or your times ,which to me seems like a total waste of money and adding a foolish risk of possibly screw up your expensive electronics .

I understand your point, and if power and quicker times is your goal, a throttle controller is not the tool that's going to get that done. It has no effect at WOT.

However, it will damage the car's electronics because it changes nothing in the car's system. All the changing is done in the TC module itself. You run a bigger risk with a tune. As far as threads you see, well, yeah, these things can cause glitches from time to time. Is it the controller, is it something in the cars system? Sometimes, either or both I guess, there are several sensors involved in DBW, and any one of them can hiccup, which will cause this. But many folks get this code once a freak out, mainly because they don't understand DBW and what the controller actually does. 9 times of 10, a simple recalibration is the fix.

I suspect it's not the VTC's fault... at least, not directly. The tune, throttle body mods, etc. etc. that OP has, in combo with the VTC, could be confusing the ECU and resulting in the codes. I would imagine recalibrating the VTC will solve the problem.

Don't know anything about the tune OP has, but if its a full tune it should take care of all the throttle issues he wants to address. When I got my tune, I did away with my VTC (and my Range device). Tune accomplished the same thing.

Have you noticed that your first photo shows fuel is empty? Second shows half.

Hahaha yeah, right when I entered the gas station, it went to power reduced mode, then got gas, then turned car on and check engine light was on

I've thrown that P2138 code a half dozen times. Always after hitting a large bump in the road. All my VTC connections are tight. Checked multiple times. Been through the recalibrations. I'm starting to think there might be a loose connection inside the VTC box.

It will.
Happens to me about every two, three months for the last year and a half.

If you can clear the code with your tuner and want to keep the VTC I'd say go for it. I'd only worry about going into limp mode on the highway or in a situation that could put you in danger
