Quad tip exhaust question

I just bought some quad tips to go with 1le diffuser, and I have stock V8 exhaust on my V6. My problem is the shop I tried to have tips installed said the setup wouldn't work so my question is can anyone recommend an axle back system or mufflers that will work with v8 pipes that either already have quad tips or can easily have quad tips welded on. I have searched but no one's post that I read have this setup. Thanks

Take a look at this thread. This is how I did mine. I used the SLP Loud Mouth II axle back system to have fabricated to accept the new quad tips.

I always thought the MRT's looked like a natural for quad tips. In fact have posted on here before they should market a set for the 2010-14's.

They'd sell a bunch of them if folks just needed to replace the rear diffuser and bolt'em on!

These are the MRT 2's

My shop successfully put quads on my Borla Touring cans. I don't think there will be room to keep any stock (non-npp) mufflers though.

I'm curious as to what the shop gave for a reason that it wouldn't work?

I have cherry bomb extreme mufflers on mine. They had to hang the mufflers a bit odd but they got them to work. The only problem I could see is depending on how long the mufflers are, Beacuse the pipe has to make a pretty sharp bend to come out the rear at the right angle.

Your tips and exhaust are not the problem; your shop is. Find a new mechanic, one who is competent...
A simply dual tip with a Y will suffice so long as it not too long, about 8-12 inches will be fine.

????

I just bolted on a NPP system yesterday with no problem.

Easiest mod to do with only 8 bolts...

Just waiting for the 1LE diffuser to come in today to finish it off.

Just had this done on Saturday - I have SS Pypes Cat Back Exhaust - 2.5" all the way back - Tips were just welded on, no issues. 1LE diffuser went on with no issues. Perfect.

Doesn't the V8 exhaust also have the "suitcase" mufflers? If that is the case, then NO, the stock exhaust won't work because there isn't enough pipe left to weld up the quad tips. I used the MRTv2 axleback exhaust but some of the pipe had to be fabricated because the pre-bent systems aren't made for quad tips, only single tips, and the geometry is off.

I bought my tips off ebay(searched Camaro Exhaust tips), and I ended up cutting the suitcases off and putting on some Dynamax Bullet mufflers and everything came out great will post pics later.
