Snag on Harmonic Balancer

Hey guys, Installing a Magnuson Heartbeat 2300 and I've hit a snag. I'm trying to get the Harmonic Balancer off and can't get the bolt broke loose. I've tried heating it up with a heat gun, Hitting with an impact gun but nothing seems to work. I have a breaker bar but that just turns the motor over. (I have automatic transmission.) I purchased a fly wheel lock and was wondering if someone could direct me to a DIY for what I need to disconnect to install the tool. Any help would be a appreciated. I worked on it for two hours tonight. The rest of the install has been great.

Hit it with your purse, Nancy.

I usually just jam a screwdriver up into the inspection cover. Then breaker bar and a cheater bar

If the screwdriver method doesn't work, the lock replaces the starter. Disconnect the battery before you try and remove the starter. Its a pain with the manifold/engine mount there. You might be able to install the lock with the starter pushed aside.

Thank you, I've heard that removing the passenger side header has to be done to install a lock. Either way, I feel like the impact should break it loose.

The torque from the factory is over 200 lbs of torque. Usually the heating and a kick ass impact will do it. I don't think a weak impact will do it.

A heat gun isnt hot enough. Try using propane or MAP for about 10-15 seconds max, working around the outside circumference of the bolt head. I had a 4 foot cheater bar and mine wouldnt budge, threw just enough heat at without melting the crank seal and it broke free easy.

Yep! and I used a heat gun at full temp for about 10 minutes. Had to get a better impact gun.
