Yes, incl. a 458 dual clutch, and it would have been better with a manual.

I wish they would offer an A10 option for the SS 1LE. The SS 1LE already posts faster track times than some of Europe's best six figure sports cars. The A10 would help even more. While I still wouldnt have bought one with an A10 I would like for it to be an option just for the added bragging rights in comparison testing.

Not a fanboy just understand progress. This is my first auto and I love it. Yeah there's times I wish I had a manual but I'm happy with my choice.

Better to keep it a manual. It rewards you like no auto can when you drive it well. Like the other poster said, there's a Camaro option to suit everyone already. You put an auto in a 1LE, next thing you know the soft beards are gonna want lane departure warning, doppler cruise control, auto braking, and a host of other electronic nannies to help them stay 'safe' on the road while texting. Soft beards don't deserve a car like the 1LE.

There is a certain satisfaction to rowing those gears. Especially when a car pisses you off and you just want to get away from them fast. The gear rowing is very awesome when driving...........aggressively

If you watch the Nürburgring video of a 2017 ZL1 with a A10 auto vs the 2018 ZL1 1LE the auto has a better top end by 10 miles an hour! 181 vs 171.
But the ZL1 1LE has a faster track time.

I noticed that too.
Wonder how much aero plays into it as well, the ZL1 1LE with the dive planes and big wing putting an extra 300 lbs of downforce would work to slow the car down some.

Aero always has a big roll to play, especially on the top end. Drag always slows you down when going for high speed runs and to be fair it also slows you in the corners, but with the added benefit with grip... and that makes you faster.

Give and take

Imo the main advantage to a manual is the connection to the car, which comes from the fact you are directly involved in mechanical changes. It feels like the gas pedal is connected directly to the engine, and the trans is at your full control. But at the same time, you will feel that same connection with a paddle shifted full sequential trans (an actual racing trans)

The biggest problem with autos and dcts is that delay from pulling the paddle to the actual shift. These manufacturers advertise this ridiculous shift times, but don’t include the time it takes to shift after you pull the paddle.

1.Pull paddle 2. computer sits down for a business lunch and discusses with all the sensors on the car and eventually decided to initiate the shift. 3.bam shift initiated and completed in a fraction of a second.

I have a theory if you can virutally eliminate step 2 by getting it much much faster by use of faster processing and higher resolution sensors, an automatic or dct could be just as good as a manual.

Until that happens, manual > auto

One day it will have an auto, like it or not. Just like all the hardcore fans said no way to an auto in the Z06 and the ZR1 and look at it now.
