What mode for 1/4 mile

Hey everyone, what mode are you putting your A10 ZL1 in for 1/4 mile racing? Is “race” mode the correct for taking full advantage of all the available HP? What do you use for roll racing?

Interested in others input as well. I used Race & Touring suspension recently. I did notice it short-shifting 1st at 5,500.

With some real stickies maybe turn everything off, which I don’t know how to do off the top of my head, which may be the way to go.

For a roll race if you don’t feel it reeling it back then it’s probably giving you near max power.

Here’s some data for you. I tested each mode on a dyno. Track-Race and Sport-Competition made exactly the same rwhp and Touring with nannies off only made 5rwhp less. Shifting is probably changed on the A10 in different modes but I can’t speak to that.

I don't think it's so much any power being pulled or lost, but the load of the different suspension modes and traction.

traction on a dyno and traction on the street are diametrically different.

As I said, just some data.

Dyno racing aside, I’ve had many decades of real world drag racing & I tried Track, Sport & Touring suspension modes. Touring posited the best MPH with the least wheel spin & felt the best. Track posted the lowest MPH with sport in the middle. All modes short shifted 1st gear.

Sometimes less is more when it comes to low end power production. Think of turbo cars ramping up boost vs MPH.

Hmm interesting analysis! I thought it pulled timing in all modes except track

For dig racing Tour has the best weight transfer. Launch control should not be used for the best times at the strip.

So Tour + holding down traction control button will yield the best time.

For roll racing I assume the same to be true.

If you're doing any of this on the street I recommend either using Track - Sport 2 or Track - Race. This gives you some protection on an unprepped surface.

Suspension & hook is where you will see gains in 60’. Every tenth there is worth 2-3 x’s tenths & increased mph in the 1/4. MPH increases, as a relative function, because you are accelerating rather than wasting forward momentum spinning the tires, even if for a second or so.

I have not had my car at the strip, yet. I run my car in sport mode with the suspension set through info screen to touring. When I double tap the traction control and get to comp mode, my car gets violent and feels completely without reins nor any kind of power modulation.

Yes, that’s what you do.

You need to be in Track to access the comp modes, launch control & your line lock.
