I find targa top of C7 to be a plus. Doesn't add much weight like a soft top does(with all the hydraulics and extra bracing for body strength) and it also gives you a very large trunk.

Personally, I think targa top makes the soft top pointless for C7, but that's me. Old man rented a C7 soft top before and I got to drive it a bit. Nice ride but the trunk space sucks. My (short-lived) targa top was great, though.

gt350 for me.

vette's are a dime a dozen here- 1 c6z06, 1 c7 and 2 c8's within 8 lots of my house. gt350's are not. something about renting a car that not many have.

Well, I suppose for a rental, things are a bit different. That said, unique doesn't always equate to better. A basic Stingray would be a better GT car than GT350.

Also, GT350 is kinda awful for road trips. Mustang gas tanks are already tiny(IMO it's only reasonably sized for the Ecoboost models; GT would need at least 2~3 extra gallons for me to consider it reasonable), and the Voodoo is a quite thirsty engine. Could get annoying on longer road trips.

The downsides of the targa are that you have to manually do it so that means it will not get removed most of time, especially for shorter trips where you would have to take it off and on. The 2nd is the wind buffeting you get with the targa at higher speeds is pretty bad compared to a true convertible. Lastly, the targa does not provide the same open air feeling as a true convertible.
