But would it actually be possible to make money off this car?
$10,000 is the current bid with the live auction still 8 days away. The live auction starts at whatever the current bid is. I would guess it will go for $20k, but I haven't been watching auctions lately.

I parted a car once (about 14 years ago) that had been rear ended. It was mine, I took the check from insurance minus what they wanted for the car and went to work. Within a month I sold everything down to the dash pad and steering wheel. interior was gutted, it was on 4 donuts and had the wrong suspension rigged in place so I could roll it around. I then sold the stripped rolling chassis to a guy

I net a few thousand $ by doing all the removal myself..

you'd still have not only the engine itself, but the trans, the front suspension, the rear suspension, the rear end, anything in the interior, etc.

Depending on the mileage, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get at least $5k just for the engine.

I only drive mine to church on Sunday and the grocery store.

One time, well, one time, after church, I told the Mrs. to hold onto her hat, and I nudged it just over 50 in a 55.

My goodness, that got the blood flowing.

The Mrs. is still talking about how frisky I was later that evening, a Sunday no less.

"ss jet" is claiming that these ZL1s are climbing in value but I'm not so sure, they appear to be plentiful and in my area there are quite a few "used" 2012+ Camaro ZL1s in the upper $40,000 range ..... I even saw a sweet ('13 ) Yellow ZL1 going for $48,877 and one ('12) asking price was $46,xxx .... Makes me happy that I could soon afford one, lol ....
