Things I've noticed with the PI and 2300

Mike and I talked about how low the IAT's were with the toohighpsi Port Injection and 2300 compared to my old 2300 on my 16 SS. In mid 80 temps we would typically see 130 to 140 intakes at the beginning of the burnout box and 140 to 150 IAT's going thru the traps. With the new setup we are seeing 115 in the burn out box and about 95 to 100 in the traps. Its the belief the with the PI spraying E 65 to E70 into the intake runners its really making a difference in the IATs. Even my 16 with spraying water/meth and running VP Ms 109 the intake temps were much higher. The 2300 usually has IATs slightly lower then the Lt4 blowers so another benefit to the PI should be lower IATs which mean more power and never pulling timing like my old Camaro before we went to the 2650. So IATs are now comparable or maybe even lower than my old 2650. Couldn't be more happy with this setup, well beyond my goals and expectations. On the dyno last week it was upper 70 to low 80s temps in Billy's shop and the logs were showing around 100 to 110 before the pulls and 90 or so at the end of the pulls. I finally have my 10 rib pulley coming from Griptech and my 10 rib belt so I'll get that tomorrow after it arrives. We still had plenty of fuel on the low side on the pulls on the dyno with a 98mm pulley so we went down to a 95mm and KPA was 170 so about 9.8 lbs of boost. So going down to the 95 will probably be about 10.5 lbs of boost so should still be really safe. I may use this pulley mainly for the track and run the 8 rib 105 on the street. Its not so aggressive on the hit, I can actually go WOT in 2nd gear with the drag radial hooking pretty good but even with another pound and half of boost I can't do that with the 98mm, I have to wait till I'm in 3 gear in the manual mode, nail it and then slap it over to drive and let it run out. With either I have to leave the traction control on.

I don't see how PI is lowering IAT2 when the injectors are past the temp sensors? Are you spinning the 2300 as hard as you were on the old Camaro? I think what you could be seeing is the Ethanol producing lower EGT's and the engine is running cooler overall?

Fwiw, my car trapped 136 last year on 18.5 degrees timing and E40 fuel @ 10psi. I hope to see some gains with 20 degrees and E60 when it cools down a little. I am not going to push timing any higher on a SBE LT1.

Had the reflex controller been available 6 months ago, I would have probably switched to the PI setup instead of buying +30 injectors. I wasn't sold on the MAF fusion controller, but the reflex looks legit and easy to tune.

I had mentioned to Mike if the PI was making the IATs lower. I don't remember his response as he was looking at the logs and working on other stuff at the track. We are running Magnuson's larger LTR up front instead of the original so that and the E70 was probably the biggest factor. What ever it is I like it and we'll never have to worry about it pulling timing because they are too high.
I hope you see some decent gains on the timing and E60 changes. The Motiv Reflex is for sure a great controller and Mike had it up and going within a couple hours including running some logs on the interstate. We were only running just a little over 8 lbs of boost with the 105mm pulley on that 10.34@135 pass so we should see it pick up a bunch in cool air with over 10 lbs.. Will the tires handle it? That's still the question. I'd think with the 95mm we should see close to 700 rwhp and that's what we will run on next month at Gateway. I still want to run 9.99 with 20" drag radials. I'm sure many have already done that but that's my goal and then a drag pack for next year.
