To the OP: I would not worry about early build problems. My early '10 SS has been near perfect.
I'm thinking about trading up to a '16 SS now that my warranty is up but i'll see what they are like first.

I drove my '12 V6 as a daily driver commute or 90 miles each way (80 of it highway), my DIC never came off of 29-30 MPG. In the two days I've taken the V8, my DIC reads 23-24. If you want gas milage, get a Prius , if you want to enjoy the commute, get the Camaro V8 .

If you trade up to a used SS you never know what you will find. Most of the dealers don't really look at the sticker, I just found out last night that my SS was a limited production SS. It's a synergy series camaro only 255 made and the dealer and even I at the time had no clue lol. So look around, you never know what you will find.

I went from the V6 to the V8. My MPG went down about 3.5 miles per gallon. My insurance went up about $8 per month. No regrets on making the switch. Also, I think the OP is right that a 5th gen can be had for less $ than the 6th gen will be at introduction. Aftermarket performance parts for the 6th gen. will be sparse at first too.

I myself am thinking of going from my 2010 1LT to a 2014 2LT. I just dont see any need for me to get a V8. I am fine with the power in the V6, just want all the updates that have come since 2010.

Also, there will be lots of "new" 14s and a few "new" 13s still around next fall. Now THOSE will be really good deals. Be patient.
