This guy recommends a foam gun. So do lots of seasoned detailers here. I honestly trust this guys' opinion... he's been there, done that longer than anyone here.

So if he says a foam gun is important, then so be it. A foam gun is important. Watch the video, listen to him explain it and learn!!

Foam guns are a lot of fun, but they are not as important as people make them out to be. I'm not playing devil's advocate, I just feel like some people make them seem like they are absolutely needed. Hell, I own a foam gun and a foam cannon, but I only really use them during the winter as touchless washes. (I don't dry the car with a towel. I blow it dry without doing a full wash. I just want to get all the salt off.)

Foam doesn't lift the dirt away like people claim it does. It can help soften bug guts, but rinsing your car is the most important step. Rinsing the car with a nice stream of water before washing will pretty much loosen and remove the majority of stuff that people claim the foam gets rid of.

I buy cheep stuff and fill it about 25 to 33% with soap and top with water and foam away, can't see using the expensive stuff just to foam the car. save it for the regular wash when the car really needs a thorough bath.

My foam cannon is 30 oz to the full I use 25 oz hot water then 5-6 oz of soap little over the full line. I get 4-6 washes out of that mixture depending on the size of the car and if I am presoaping and rinsing then resoaping to wash. The foam cannon is way more soap economical per wash than soap gun. In my soap gun i used 3 oz soap then fill bottle up to 2/3- 3/4 mark and that would do one wash.

I buy the blue corral jugs they sell at wally world, it is blue and I believe it is a wash and wax type, it doesn't lather up all that well when I used it as a regular wash but in the foam attachment it foams enough to put a light foam over the car. think it is only 3 bucks a jug last time I bought it. will probably just buy whatever is the cheapest next time. have some partial bottles also, gold class, some Poor boys wash and wax also.
