Locking the car with the hood up?

Has anyone figured out how to lock the car with the hood open?
When I am at shows with the hood up I want to be able to lock the car if I walk away from it, but you cant lock it with the hood open, you just get an alert on the dash.
Is there a way around it?

1. Open Door
2. Pull hood release
3. Close Door
4. Lock Car
5. Open Hood

Just did it, Confirmed it worked.

EDIT, so you may be be able to shut the hood but not all the way, just past the initial latch - like you just pulled the release - then lock the car. My laziness is too overwhelming to try this right now.

I know for fact that mine will lock with the hood released but not fully open as this is how I park the car for long periods in the garage. I leave the hood "popped" because I have a tender on the battery and I don't want the fuel system pre-charging when I open the door. I lock it because, well, habit.
