You're making a valid point (OMG you forgot catch cans!!!), but there's more to it:

#0 the built-in search function is borderline useless, the only realistic way to find anything here is using an external search engine and specifying "site:camaro6.com"

#1, we are people, not machines, and people don't work that way, they may be using a forum for interaction and not as a google/wikipedia substitute

#2 knowledge evolves over time, a search hit finding what was said in 2016 or 2017 about a topic may no longer represent the current best information in 2022

You could, but remember that the oil life minder chirps at you based on mileage OR time elapsed since last reset (change). So, at the one year mark, it will be crying at you for a change.

I put my car in storage for the winter. I changed the oil in September 2020 and it was complaining about low oil life when I pulled the car out in March 2021 (only six months, around 1000 miles driven). Makes me wonder if there's additional pieces of the algorithm that watch for lack of use as well.

They have a far, far, far greater interest in not having their motors blow up at 5 or 6 or 7 years old, with 70k or 80k miles on them. That will send a company into bankruptcy right quick. Not due to warranty repair costs, because of course the motor is out of warranty. But due to shattered customer confidence in the brand. So GM, nor any other car company, would ever, ever do this.
I would also point out that probably the last thing the average person is thinking about when they are buying a new car is what the future maintenance interval is.
Bottom line: Follow the owners manual for oil changes just like you do for every other maintenance item on your car. This isn't 1964 anymore, and there is no engineering reason to change your synthetic oil at some ridiculous interval, unless you enjoy wasting oil and money.
