A major conundrum...
Hey folks!
Last year (2014) I sold my '13 Black ZL1 (VIN 2G1FL1EP9D9804251, if anyone knows who has it, I'd love to say "hi"!). I miss it every damned day. With the sixth generation Camaro right around the corner, and as I'm sure everyone here would agree, a sixth generation "Z" car would be short to follow, I'm really stuck as to what to do. I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the little gadgets, technology, and styling of the new 6th Gen cars, but I really just don't feel a 6th will ever replicate that ZL1 "OOMPH" and muscley-mean-ocity (It's a word, don't bother looking it up). Money is tight, hence why I had to sell the 13 to begin with. I really doubt I'd be able to afford a new 17/18/whatever model year "Z" car when it's new. Especially if it follows the lead of the CTS-V and goes bonkers on the price-point. So do I hold out for a 6th Gen SS, MAYBE eventually picking up a used "Z" car in five or six, or hell, maybe even more years down the road? Or do I go back to what I loved SO MUCH, a 5th Gen ZL1, probably a 14/15 (I like the new color HUD and Drivers center) and still consider a used "Z" car several years down the road? Uniqueness is important to me. I really love what the 6th has to offer, but after a year or two, will they really be a "rare find"? The ZL1 always got peoples attention, and the goal in both cases would be for heavy modifications. Obviously the ZL1 would be better to start off with for Mods, but those LT1 engines in the C7 are really pumping some huge numbers with a little forced induction. What would you do? ZL1 or 6th SS? What's more important to you? Gadgets, or uniqueness? SOMEONE CONVINCE ME ONE WAY OR THE OTHER SO I CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT! Either way, I won't be buying one for probably 6-9 months at the soonest...

I would go 14-15 ZL1 over a 6th gen SS. Especially since you already have a soft spot for them. It will be a lot more unique and special.

6th Gen looks nice, but going to an SS after having a Z would be difficult for me. Both are awesome though.

My thoughts are that since your Camaro-less right now, you might as well wait for the 16' cars to come out and test drive one.
Its not going to be too much longer before we start seeing them on dealers lots. I think they really screwed up the quarter window, it doesn't blend with the form of the rear quarters. I really like the front end on them, it looks really aggressive but that's about it. also, I don't believe 200 lb weight loss is going to be very noticeable. in the old days, a hundred lbs was good for a tenth of a second in the quarter, and the cars handle extremely well even for a car 600 lbs less.

I have a 2014 SIM M6 with 2700 miles, in perfect condition, with many extras that I have to sell.I babied her, and am looking to find her a nice home. She has all the bells & whistles...
