Also, maybe not specifically mentioned:

The convertible is strengthened in some areas to account for the 'weakening' caused by removing the hard top.

The belly pan covers everything from the front clip back to the bell housing of the transmission. If they put any additional support in there, it'd interfere.

That could be one of the reasons why they limited it to 155. The aerodynamic package on the ZL1 is very specific, and the belly pan played a vital role. At higher speeds, driving without that underbody piece could have negative effects on stability...

The convertible is limited to 155mph because of the soft top itself and not because any lack of a belly pan.
