How is he still sick? Why isn't his mom making him chicken noodle soup and letting him sleep in?

SORRY!! Sorry...totally sorry. I couldn't pass up the chance. My bad. Totally inappropriate. Sorry.

You better spray the interior with Lysol.

Yep. The interior could be teaming with the black plague.

In all seriousness, I thought his comments about the ZL1 A10 vs the Hellcat A8 were interesting. He starts talking about the automatics around the 2:20 mark.

I have to wonder if the snappiness he talks about with the ZF in the Hellcat is simply a harder feeling shift due to no rev matching like the Camaro does. I think that's why the A10 is so smooth. It does rev matching when you shift up or down. Plus the gears being so closely spaced helps with smoother shifts as well.

I had the 8-speed auto ZF on my Audi A8 and it failed at 45k miles and needed replacement... it's an old platform, I would bet on the A10.

Listening to many launches, sounds like the A10 on ZL1 shifts hard on the 1-2 and 2-3 then softer on the higher shifts... seems like a very intelligent unit

The unit in the Hellcat has different internals. The Hellcat version is the most robust of them all, as should be expected. Don't really think it's fair to assume the Audi experience would happen with that version.

Rev matching when you shift up?

Yes. It sounds like ignition is cut on upshifts. At least in the lower gears. Like a quick shifter on a motorcycle. Cutting the ignition on a bike allows you to pull the transmission into the next gear without using the clutch. I've noticed what sounds like ignition being cut between shifts both driving my car and in many videos of the A10 launching from a stop. So if this is what's happening, the ignition being cut, slows the engine during the shift to the higher gear, making for a smooth shift. I know for certain it blips the throttle when manually downshifting, especially in the lower gears. You can really hear it when dropping into 3rd, 2nd, and 1st. Love the sound of it!

Really... how would someone know or assume that?

I'll try to dig out the specs, but there are several versions of the 8HP, including the 55 that probably failed above, although that is NOT the norm, it is a very well known and reliable trans, and several versions up is the 8HP 90 the Hellcat uses, along with Bentleys and Rolls. The ratings are indicated by the last 2 digits, 55 is good up to 550 N.m, 90=900 N.m. Just like the 10 speed can be calibrated for multiple uses, obviously Hellcat and Rolls would not share calibrations, but it's a good transmission. No problems launching the 605 hp S8 to 60 faster than any other 4 door except a Tesla, like around 3.4 sec for a 4500 lb. car; takes a good transmission to do that.
