Valvoline 5w40 “European” formula
I noticed through some old threads that a lot of people are running 5w40 valvoline 5w40 for track use. The one I’m seeing is branded as “European” formula”. Is that the one people are referencing?

If you want to stick to GM's specifications to a tee, then unfortunately Mobil1 is about the only option. If you are okay with 5W-40 then Motul has some oils that meet Dexos2. The link posted above will show you all the oil that meets Dexos2.

Valvoline had 5w40 that was dexos certified along with the Euro formula, but it was discontinued.
Since then I've been running Amalie 5w40 which is still dexos certified. I believe Havoline makes a 5w40 dexos if you can find it.https://www.carid.com/amalie-oil/eli...motor-oil.html That dexos list is highly optimistic and outdated. Many oils are not available in many markets and others are discontinued like the Valvoline for example.

I plan on running the Motul X-Clean as well. They have multiple different variants of it though. Not sure which is the correct version.

I don't see the point beyond a full synthetic from a major manufacturer of the correct weight. I just havent bought in to this ESP and European Car formula and Dexos whatevers.

If you don't track your car then 5W-30 with Dexos1 Gen 2 will work just fine. Just saying.
For people who both DD and track, that's where 0W-40 Dexos2 comes in. Given this is the 1LE section, I think a lot of people do track. For warranty purposes, it helps to stick to the oil specifications.

I've used 0W-40 ESP European Formula during my oil change and the car is still running good. No issues so far. However I have a 2022 and that's what they require now. My 2016 required what you mentioned but I still put 0W-40 in it back then.

I think this oil crap is a load of bs. Now they have "Super Car" Mobil1 0W-40 DexosR that's "approved".
